Cancel the Friday Debate? Surely, You Jest.

I just heard that McCain wants to cancel the Friday presidential debate, because of our economic crisis. What better time for us to hear from the candidates, than in a time of crisis.

I have a better idea.  Let's change the topic of the debate to the economy, and let the foreign policy debate go until later.

I don't understand McCain's argument here.  McCain and Obama are titular leaders of their respective parties and their imput into any plan would be valuable.  However, they can do this by phone or by flying to Washington when needed.  There is no use to suspend campaigning or to cancel the debates.  Furthermore, as Barack Obama said a few moments ago.  Presidents need to be able to multi task.  They will have to be able to do more than one thing at a time once they get to the White House.  So, I asked myself why does McCain want to cancel the debate.  Is it a political ploy?  Id he afraid to debate?  McCain's campaign seems to be slipping in the past few days.  Does he needs another stunning move to jazz it up?   Can we call this "cut-and-run?"

I'm curious to know what others think of McCain's idea.  Cearly, I don't think much of it.

Honestly, I think he's not feeling well/tired.  Did you see him on FOX news yesterday?  He didn't look good.

Why else would he postpone such an important debate?  I can understand suspending the campaigning for a couple of days to focus on hammering out this agreement, but not cancelling the debate.

The first thing I thought when I heard that is how much time and money will have been wasted.  Preparation at a University for something of the magnitude of a Presidential debate is huge!

Did you see where Obama thinks that they should be out on the campaign trail, and McCain thinks they need to be in DC because of the crisis?

America is going down the hill fast, I guess now we know what our elderly felt years ago when the depression hit, that is where we are headed in my opinion. Someone has to make changes that will add jobs to our county, unemployment is horrible, you cannot find a job when you want, and the economy is horrible!

Tell me about it!

This whole bail-out thing scares me to death.  We have no idea if it's actually going to work, we will likely not get all our money back, even though George Bush said we would on TV last night.  Imagine that!....Him lying to us!

No one even knows the actual value of these securities.  There's no way to know.  But I guarantee you the dudes selling them are going to try to get the most they can for them, even though they're about as worthless as junk bonds.

American taxpayers get bent over once again....and we didn't even get kissed!  So much for that economic stimulus check we all got!  What a joke!

I am scared to death of what is going to happen in this world, I am scared for our children. I sit and listen to the scanner, there are so many thefts each night, people stealing food, but when there is no money how else can they eat, and no I am not defending the people stealing. It is jut really sad.

This reminds me (damn, it sucks being old) of the Savings and Loan bailout in 1988-90. And, that brings in the Lincoln Savings and Loan fiasco which of course, reminds one of the Keating Five and that is an area McCain just doesn't want us to remember. It was his White Water.............With one exception, he and Cindy were guilty.

Yeah, that was a $130 billion bailout.  Makes that one seem like chump change!

Without bringing jobs back to this country we will never come completely out of this situation.
