My, how things have changed in radio

It snowed this morning in Merrillville. Not enough to cause too much chaos but it got cold enough to cause the coffee I left in my cupholder to freeze solid.
Today was a day to line up interviews for future broadcast. I've got two lined up. One in Gary tomorrow morning, the other at the Indiana Dunes later in the week.
Things have changed since I last did a radio interview. The last time I went out, I had a cassette recorder. Today, my news director handed me a bag with a professional digital recorder to take with me. So, I've been playing with it, recording various audio here and there.
In my producer role, I won't be on the air that much. Right now, I'll be confined to business headlines once an hour in the morning. Most of the time, I'll be writing copy for the main news anchor. But I'm not a ham. As much as I'd like to be on the air, writing copy for radio has been one of my stronger points. So I'll be happy to limit my time behind the mic in favor of helping the overall product.
I haven't had a chance to explore my new territory much. I need to get over to Valparaiso and see how much it's changed since I last lived there. But that will come in time. Right now, I need to figure out the ends and outs of digital audio editing.

I use audacity (and some others) a lot... free, free, free. ;)
