Ready, set, practice!

I can't believe I just set my alarm clock for 1:15 am. Tomorrow, my new job starts for real...kind of. While I'll be going through the motions of one of our typical broadcast days, we won't actually be broadcasting. It's more of a dry run to make sure we know where all of the audio feeds are and we push the right buttons.
It couldn't come on a worse day, to be honest. The forecast for this evening is calling for wind chills of 40 below. I hope my car cranks.
Things are coming together at the station. Today, I learned how to download audio from our various networks into the computer system called, NewsBoss. We get feeds from NPR, AP, and Network Indiana, so I need to keep them all straight.
I think my biggest challenge is going to be time management. I need to get the morning down to a science. There's a lot of writing, a lot of calling, and a little time on the air. The good thing is I'll be out by 9 each day.
So far, this has been a good experience. I appreciate you letting me share it with you. As we get the station on the air, I'll probably reduce my posts and shift gears toward the business of journalism and radio.
But for now, it's time to think about heading to bed. 1:15 is just around the corner.
