AFP Community Gardens Project.

Welcome to the AFP Community Gardens Project.
The AFP Community Gardens Project is a grass roots environmental volunteer movement which is active in making Anderson become a cleaner, greener, more pleasant place for all of us to live & raise our families together in, volunteers from all over the Anderson area are coming together to help revitalize the ugly scars left behind by of our city's industrial history.
Our goals are to transform all or at least some of the abandoned, overgrown & contaminated "brownfields" into beautiful, useful public spaces that the community can be proud of, or at the very least not ashamed of or embarrased by.
Everyone is encouraged to come to participate in the project, everyone, regardless of age or physical ability there will be something that you will be able to do to make a positive impact on the project, remember the more people we have volunteering, the more we can all accomplish, so spread the word, tell your family & friends about us and keep a watchful eye on our calender of upcoming Community Gardens Project events, give your input during our planning/discussion sessions, make sure to shout out your fundraiser ideas & plan on coming to get some excersize with us during our outdoor "on site" clean up activities, there will be something to do for everyone!
So let's all join together to make 2009 the year that we all make Anderson a little cleaner & a little greener!

Good blog Richard.
Richard,
My name is Amber and I am totally new to AFP, I joined last night after searching for info on Community Gardens and Anderson, that was when I came up with AFP and your blog. I spent a lot of time reading your stuff and the comments that have been posted, and decided to join in hopes of talking with you and others about community gardens. I too have been planning on doing a community garden, the food type, and am honestly a little overwhelmed at where to start. I see a need and want to do something about it but I thought I was completely alone in this endeavor outside of what the center for mental health did last year and then I saw this. Thank you all for caring too.
