Is this the one that was being built over in Daleville? I don't read the paper.
No. The paper says off of exit 22 behind The Central Indiana Orthopedics building on MLK Boulevard. It is being reported that a group wants to put a facility in Anderson and part of the facility would be for baseball!! ( right up my alley) I know of one facility which is to be built in Anderson but I do not know where and I also do not think it is going to be anything else other than a training facility for baseball. This article sounds like it is a complex with more than baseball. If it is done right it could be a big plus for Anderson.
I see. I had heard about a sports complex that was being built in Daleville, and that it would be used for Olympic training. I'd also heard that it would have baseball diamonds for the locals to use. But I've not heard anything more about it for some time. Is that one still going on?
The HB report was correct. Large complex... but mostly for SOFTball. Nothing to do with Olympic training.
I hope the city knows what they are getting into. My DD played in a College exposure event in Chesterfield Missouri last weekend. 120 teams from around the country. I watched a team from Arizona that came just to play in front of big ten coaches. This complex was NICE!! 20 softball fields, football fields, soccer fields, a few baseball diamonds and a very large trail area for walkers. They can't build a complex, have the city mow it once a month and expect large tourneys to show up. If it is done right they can keep it full every weekend most of the year. They can have local adult leagues thru out the week.
After reading the HB article I got the impression no bids was a good thing for the people in charge of this project. Am I right or wrong on that? Have you got an idea of what kind of time table they are on?
I haven't heard anything about this but I hope it's true. When you put something like this out there for kids it is a great thing. When you say Olympic training I know some people roll their eyes and say yeah right. Places like this will bring top notch coaching which will produce star athletes who in turn will become GOOD students and even better citizens. Speaking of Olympic athletes there is a gal right here in Anderson 2 days a week giving softball lessons. She is 27 years old and played 3rd base for the Tai Wan Olympic softball team in the last Olympics. One of the best softball players in the world right here in town, 2 days a week training local kids. How great is that?

www.softballone.com This is Cara Johnson-Hirsch's website. You can go here and get a ton of info. She has a gal ( I think her e-mail is katie@softballone.com) who does her scheduling for Anderson) She works out of a building off of 500 South in the Pendleton district. She is in town on Monday nights from 4 till 9 and Sat. from 10 until 5. The prices I am not sure off as my daughter has been a student for many years and now works part time for her. I will tell you up front that Cara is not for every body. She is a great person and her students adore her. Some kids do not like her style. She expects the kids to do their work and sometimes can get grouchey. She has been a great influence on my daughter not only with softball but life in general. Give her a try I think you will be pleasently surprised. Not many people here ( in Anderson) know this but a couple of years ago Cara took 6 weeks off during the winter and went to Tai Wan to train the Tai Wan Olympic team as a hitting instructor. She has a wealth of knowledge that local kids could take advantage of.I know of a big church thingy being built over my Daleville behind the Wendy's on 67....my son in law is working on it. it is a worship center type thing.
What?? You can't understand what I am saying? I am speaking plain penguin!!
