Wondered what was going on there a few minutes back...

Again,

"The Great OZ" pulls some levers, flips a few switches..

Then, the AFP runs smooth again..well not completely..

Yeah, it's a 3rd party ad network. If they didn't pay the expenses here, I'd pull them all the time. Hang in there. Should be back soon.

Just another one of those things that don't exist in Reality, but we base our entire lives on it.  Like money.

Money doesn't exist in reality?  What are those bills I've got in my purse then?

Those bills you have in your pocket are just paper.  It only has value because you think it has value and others believe likewise.

Bottomline is they are just pieces of paper.

I hope that you have a great day today and I that your tomorrow is even better than you can imagine..

When the U.S. went off the gold standard is when the dollar bills only value is what people think it is worth.

Used to be able to take your dollars and exchange it for a specific amount of gold from the U.S. Mint (I think that is where you used to be able to switch them)

From what I understand Britain went off this standard in 1931 and most European countries followed suit in the early 1930s then the United States went off gold in 1933.

The U.S. Government went off the gold standard for the last time in 1968.  I think that was around the last date that Silver/Gold dollar bills could be cashed in for real silver/gold.
