Ok, I'm going to do something a little different. I'm going to share what's I'm planning to do with Anderson Free Press on an item by item basis. If you think something should be 'on the list' - that is, if there's a feature you'd like, something you don't like, leave a comment! This is not to discourage PMing me at all (I love answering those), but I thought we might benefit as a community if I brought this part of the process out from behind the curtain.

This is just a very basic off the top of my head list at the moment, but we can prioritize and evolve the list as we go. Hope you enjoy this and find it useful.

Currently in no useful order:

  • Better Mark as Read
  • As per this thread - Create 'Screencast' How-To videos about how to get the most out of AFP. As you can see by the examples in that thread, working with free software, you get what you pay for (PM if you want the long techie explanation) - So, I'd have to find a better solution. Camtasia is out of the price range at the moment ($299), but that's what we'll want to have eventually.
  • Problems with IE6 - intermittant dialogue 'ok to continue'... annoying! (convince people to upgrade or switch to Firefox ;)
  • Crossword Puzzle - Idea first submitted by Scumpadelic
  • CHAT on AFP or AFP sponsored chatroom somewhere (IRC? confusing...) Idea first submitted by AW
  • New Topics - Weird/Offbeat news ??
  • Somehow easier to keep up with all the content - Subscribe to a Thread? (That is, get an email when someone replies to one of the threads you're watching...
  • More pink incorporated somehow (or better, the ability for people to choose the theme/color of the site...)
  • Ignore this User? (This might be buggy and cause other problems)
  • Fix points! - add ability to give other users points...
  • More Smileys
  • Moderators?
  • Create a section where people can submit feature requests for the website - something better than this to handle it...
  • Fix link to most recent comment on 'Recent Comments' page - THIS IS BROKE on the MAIN FORUM PAGES TOO! Get on it, man!

  • Easier way to upload image - UPLOAD MULTIPLE IMAGES AT ONCE!
  • Write-up official rules finally

  • Weather Advisory Alerts ... Done, but I don't like it yet... they're on the homepage
  • Double headers with cache on -- maybe fixed? need to double check some stuff first before crossing it off...

  • Fix Bullets in Posts
  • RSS For Comments Thanks, medic!

Suggestions for prioritizing these are also welcome!

Ready. Steady. Go!

When I see a forum topic with recent activity that I want to look at, I would like to be able to directly access the last page of posts instead of always being taken to the first page and then having to scroll down to the bottom and click on last.

Actually, I can help with that one.

If you click on the links to the left that says "Recent Posts" it will take you to a list of all posts with recent comments made on them. In a column near the right of the screen, you'll see the number of posts, and directly under it in blue, the number of new ones. Click on the blue number of new ones and it will take you to the first of the newest comments since your last read.

Does that make sense? LOL

Or there's the same button on the forum pages (45 comment 2 new) with 2 new being a link... Let me know if that doesn't work.

That seems to only work on threads with just one page.  On multi-page threads, it's taking me to the first page.

I'm not getting the number of new posts highlighted. Although now that you mention it, I do seem to remember seeing this. But not now.

Aha. So you have to be signed in to see the number of new posts. But I agree with IF. (crap) If it's a multiple page deal, it still takes you to the first page.

Ok, it should be fixed. Hopefully I didn't break anything else fixing this! Heh.

Thanks, scumpadelic.
