Just out of curiousity...  what is in the works, what's being planned and what needs to be looked at? I've been looking at Drupal a little bit.  :)

I know this is an old blog, but I am new here and I took some photos (I am not a photo taker) of Anderson Speedway Suite and uploaded them on the web:
http://s342.photobucket.com/albums/o425/joeupload/

Anderson Speedway (former Sun Valley Speedway) in Anderson, Indiana improvements that I have noticed are since these photos (on the website of Steve Hardin http://www.stevehardin.com/anderson.htm ) were taken:
  • New marques sign out by Martin Luther King Blvd (formerly Pendleton, Ave.).
  • Parking lot is in better shape
  • Main entrance is beautiful (no more 3 over grown green shrubs)
  • New and Improved scoreboard
  • Best Way Disposal roll-off containers

Two things that I think I have seen that were not there in years past

  • A safety gate for exiting the pits to the track
  • Fiberglass beachers on the front stretch

Things that I have seen improve from years ago

  • Suite in turn 1
  • An energy absorbing wall
  • Flag pole dedication plaque
  • The restrooms have improved with nice art work
  • Restroom attendant
  • Stadium Lights have been moved from the inside of the track to the outside of seating area
  • The weigh station is in the pit area
  • Pit exit and entrance have changed
  • I do remember the first year beer was not allowed in the front stretch
  • Payment leaving the parking lot
  • Gate on the parking lot
  • No more guard rail in the infield
  • Removal of speed bumps in the figure 8 course

Anderson Speedway have Suite.  Now the suites are just like those big folks at Indy.   Here is information about the 'Suite':

  • Food (yes it was nice...Barbque sandwhiches, cookies, crackers and lunch meat).  I think Big Joe's Event Services in Anderson, Indiana (IN) take care of this department.
  • Drinks cold and in the refig.
  • Climate control - A/C or heat (which ever is needed according to the temperature outside)
  • Indoor so when it rains we cannot tell and wondered why the fans left the stands
  • A speaker with a volume control for the room and you can hear the announcer (Denny Adams, voice of Anderson Speedway)
  • A television (okay it is small and not HD)
  • Photos on the walls.
  • Private "clean" Restrooms with soap for the suite people.

Now the reasons you would know that you are at Anderson Speedway Suite.

  • The windows are plexiglass
  • Stairs (no elevator )
And the Number 1 reason you know you are at Anderson Speedway Suite:
  • You have to look through another plexiglass into the suite next to you to see the flag man/4th turn.  Otherwise you would not be able to see.

The suite was being cleaned before the night was done.

I can say that I do not recall any suites at:

  • Baerfield Speedway - Fort. Wayne, Indiana
  • Jeffersonville Speedway - Jeffersonville, Indian
  • Mt. Lawn Speedway west of New Castle, Indiana
  • South Bend Speedway - South Bend, Indiana
  • Winchester Speedway - Winchester, Indiana

Salem Speedway (Salem, Indiana), Angola Speedway (Angola, Indiana), and Mansfield (Mansfield, Ohio) have updated and improved their facilities.  My thought is Anderson Speedway is attempting to being quality action pack racing to Anderson, Indiana.

Items that I liked at other facilities:

  • Salem has a  playground for the kiddies
  • South Bend has two gates.  One is at the main gate at the front of the facility and a back gate for other to get close parking.  I am not sure if Anderson Speedway would want to buy the old Bingo/Bowling Alley property  and put a gate back there or not.  This would provide more parking.  I am not in control..  Just thinking by words on the screen.

    Thanks Anderson Speedway!

You want me to upload the photos here at AFP?

And bringing this forum back from the dead is a good thing.

Reminds me that there's still so much to do.

In any case, making photos a simpler process is something on my mind.

In the meantime, let me know if you want some help trying to upload them here to AFP.

    DONE
    • Change tracker page to speed it up - remove 'paging' and increase number of entries to 100+
    • Chage Tracker so that it only shows things promoted to 'front page...' IE bulk image uploads and some of the ads can be filtered out by default so as not to 'litter' the page and make it less useful. ;)

Wouldn't that kind of thing be an administrative decision?  Most of the posters wouldn't know the capacity of your machine's server, to assist in that decision.

By the way, you got a job opening yet?  ;)

    • Move some of the domains OFF this server - so we get rid of the network timeouts hopefully.
    • Implement(read: hack together) a PAGER for the smileys so it doesn't take so long for the page to load the first time...
