Great stuff.

Seeing Toys for Tots (and the Coats for Kids always gets me, too) always make me wish I had something to give. For some reason, though, we always struggle through the winter months, especially November and December, and it is usually all we can do to buy Christmas for our own.

I think it's such a great program. :)

Good to see they are collecting them.  We were told this year Anderson Fire Department will not a collection place.  I did not understand that one.  We have had several people wanting to dropping them off.  We had to refer them to other places.

Dollar General is a good place to shop for that program. Last year I think I spent about $30.00 and got tons of stuff. They had footballs and basketballs for five bucks each, puzzels for a buck, dolls for a couple of bucks. I walked out of there with a lot of sacks. It really is a great program.

I don't know about other towns, but last year Mounds Mall had a box or two sitting in front of the radio booth for donations. I will email a friend who is involved and see if they or someone will post anymore sites.

Arrrrr,

Toys for Tots, locations, and other scoop.

 1.Good news bad news.

a. "Good news", all boxes were placed through out Madison County the day after Thanksgiving, by local Marines. Again toy collection has been plentiful throughout the county.

b. Bad news, all boxes are being picked up "This" week. "If" you go to a location that you knew that had a box,,, It may have already been picked up

If you encounter that problem please take your toy or donation to the Salvation Army  building  located in Anderson. The Salvation Army will make sure your toy goes to  a child that lives in your part of the county,,,, or if you want your toy to stay in the local area.

Local Marines have been collecting cash donations. All monies collected will be taken to a a toy store that will allow us to buy "Two Toys" for the price of one.

This way we can target age groups, Girls in the age group of 12~16 are always in need. (local Marines could use some help finding items for the female   12~16 age group)

"We have" items for Boys in that age group,Footballs, Basketballs, Skate boards, etc.

If you would like to help the Marines and the Salvation Army with the toy give away . Please call the Salvation Army, they will give you a two hour shift to help. The date to pass out the toys will be Dec. 19th & 20th.

A question was asked why some locations for a toy  drop off box has changed from year to year. The Marines will always place a  toy drop off box at any location where the bussiness person has asked us for a "Toy Box" Sometimes after helping for one year. That bussiness might want to help  a different group the following year.

Historically fire stations and local schools have always been a place to take your toys. We found sometime it became  difficult for the general  public to "stop in." Schools were always "locked up", and fire stations were "locked down" when the crews were on a fire,  or medical  run.

"Overcome and Adapt" is the Marine way. We will continue to look for locations for drop off boxes. maybe when the world gets back to normal, School doors won't have to be locked, and fire houses will remain open when the guys catch a run.

Thank all of you for what you have done,,, It's working.

C.J.S.
