AFP Mobile version?

With more and more people accessing the internet on mobile devices, has there been any thought to creating a mobile version of this site? I've been to some other sites that take me to a text-only or low-graphics version created especially for BlackBerry and other similar mobile devices. I'll admit that I have idea how time-consuming this idea might be, but it might be another innovation at sets AFP apart from similar forums. |

Hopefully I'll be getting a phone soon that I can test/debug with. Look for this in 2009 - hopefully 1st quarter. Thanks.
I had an old supervisor who had a sign in his office that stated Nothing is impossible for the person who does not have to do it himself.
Great idea!
KPaul,
I'll volunteer my services for this if needed/wanted. I've also had interest in writing my first iPhone app, so if that's something you'd be interested in, let me know. (note: this is coming from me as a private individual, not from me at my day job)
email me and let's try to get together for lunch or something. or if you have time, i might be around your workspace on wednesday afternoon. lemme know. would appreciate the help...
Well I decided to test AFP forums on a couple of mobile devices today while sitting having my coffee at Panera's.
The RAZR was a complete no-go, however it is an older model so I wasnt expecting a great deal out of it, the PSP "sort of worked" initially but it quickly ran out of memory while browsing the forums, even with the memory manager turned on it was still eventually overwhelmed after a couple of minutes of browsing.
I posted it on another thread on this topic, but the blackberry is a no-go as well.
I think mobile devices just don't want to render drupal? Does drupal have a mobile module you can plug in. I know phpbb2 does, and I have sucessufully used that on my blackberry, and WM6 devices.

Ok after a bit of fiddle'ing I have been able to get the PSP to bring up the AFP forums without any problems, however I was forced to use my PS3 as a buffer of sorts, so the PSP is actually acting more as a remote display device for the PS3 rather than a stand alone wireless device.
But at least it will allow me to browse the forums while soaking in the jacuzzi or laying in bed.
Interesting... does anyone in the drupal know, know of a site that uses this. If you did I would love to test it out on my BB.

Dawg,
I have no idea, I just saw that add-on on that Drupal site just a few moments prior to posting the link to it.
