Ok, if you're using IE now, there *should* be a button on the bottom row for spellcheck. You'll have to download an addon for IE, though. I installed and it seems safe, but YMMV. If you click on the spellcheck button and don't have it, it will take you to a website where you can download it.
I really do recommend Firefox, though. It's generally more secure (because less people use it, the spammers don't hit it as much, plus it's built better than IE, imho...I'm dreading having to go to Vista. Heh...I bought one of the last 2 gigs of RAM Windows XP Media Center puters, I think, a while back...)
Anyway, check-out the Firefox. There's a lot you can do with it... will change the way you see the web.
And I'll offer free lessons/support via here or email for anyone who wants to take the plunge.
If neither of these work for you, lemme know and I'll see what I can do.
What I hear is that it's an early version and still a little buggy. Also, it has a lot of things set be default to high security or something.
In one case, I heard from someone that it took 3 mouse clicks just to move an icon.
You can turn all that off, I think, but am not sure how. Not sure why they would turn it on be default, but they're kinda crazy coming out with 20 or so different versions of it.
I'm the resident spell checker. IF I decide to check your spelling. ;)
To turn all that stuff off in Vista, Straight from the Vista Help Files:
Turn User Account Control on or off
User Account Control (UAC) can help you prevent unauthorized changes to your computer. It works by prompting you for permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings that affect other users.
We don't recommend turning User Account Control off. If you do turn it off, you should turn it back on as soon as possible.
Click Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box to turn on UAC, or clear the check box to turn off UAC, and then click OK.
Any extensions you like? (Not to hijack the thread, but i think the original post is answered. ;)
There are about 10 or 20 extensions I don't know how I'd get along without. (Although I did - remembers the days of text only browsing, hissing beeping modems...)
Anyway, kudos! Let me know if you have any questions.
p.s. this is an older (2005) article I wrote - Pimp my Firefox that outlines some things you can do to make it more useful. Although the list is probably dated now. I'll have to write-up a new one someday soon maybe...

axnjackson You think healthcare is expensive now? Wait tell its free
I think it's Internet Exploder only? What browser are you using?
Firefox has one built-in (!!), but it doesn't seem to be working on this input box. Probably a setting I have wrong somewhere.
I can try to turn on the plug-in for the IE one if you want or hunt down the Firefox setting. Let me know.
I do recommend Firefox, though ... a lot.

Vista is a real =itch to get use to. I am going to have to call me puter guru in the next few days for help. Get ready, you know who you are.
