Dear Daisy with a line in front and back (do you want me to change that??),

It appears you have the punctuation part of this down, but you have forgot the textual part of the question. ;)

Oh can you fix that??

I thought someone stole my name and that's why I couldn't register as just Daisy

Dear Sippy,

First time poster, long time reader of poetry. I have read where there is controversy over you poetry but I have not seen an actual intelligble response about it from you. Can you explain to me how you believe that you have been incorrectly labeled as dime store poetry?

Dear PD,

Thank you for your thoughtful inquiry.  While poetry, like any artform, is highly subjective, I personally believe all haiku is, as you call it, dime store poetry.  In fact, to call it poetry at all is a stretch, in my humble opinion.  Therefore, I see no need to defend such an accusation.  The real poetry I write is much too personal and deep to share with the common public.

Sincerely hoping that's intelligible enough for you,
Sippy

Dear Sippy,

That was a fine response! It does cause me to ask another then...
If your poetry is much too personal, then why start a poetry thread that gets you ridicule?

Warmingly,
PD

Dear Patriot Dan,

Another good question!  I started my own poetry thread because I felt as though I was not getting fair treatment/recognition in the all boys thread.  I figured it's a free country, so why not?  I have no control over the fact that people enjoy ridiculing me.  I'm not sure why that is, but all I can say to that is what comes around, goes around.

Sincerely,
Sippy, the independent poet

Another one of my sites (that barely gets worked on) if I haven't dropped it yet.

On to the question, though, so I don't lose points.

Sippy, when did you start writing poetry?

Word Man

Dear Word Man,

Thank you for your interest in my poetic career.  I can't remember the first time I ever wrote a poem, but I do remember my first published poem.  When I was 11 years old, our teacher told us to write a poem about Spring.

Springtime, by Sippy

Springtime is when new flowers bloom
When spring cleaning comes and you clean up your room
Your sinus cavities, of which there are eight
Are suddenly in for a terrible fate
They wheeze and they sneeze, but it just keeps falling
That terrible enemy, which is known as pollen

All of a sudden you get a big urge
To take all of your money and go out and splurge
Or head for the hills and let nobody know
What you are doing or where you will go

With every new bird and each passing day
I wonder why things have to be this way
Why do I have to write about spring
When I could be outside, doing my thing!

I was irreverent, even then.  I wrote a poem post-Katrina that was printed in a special edition of our paper about the aftermath.  I also wrote a poem about a young cousin of mine who died unexpectedly a couple of years ago.  Her mom asked me to read it at her funeral.  I mostly write about things I'm passionate or emotional about.....my son, love, lost love, etc.  Those are very personal and I don't share many of them.

I'd love to read some of your stuff, kpaul and thank you again, for your excellent question!

Sincerely,
Sippy, aka Word Chick who Irish has an unhealthy poetic jealousy of.
