The cat (new superintendent) is out of the bag!

Well, it looks like it is ok to talk about this now. The new superintendent (based on approval at the board meeting tonight) has been announced. I am not sure exactly when Dr. Chow is planning to get to town, but he has meetings planned for early tomorrow morning so I "assume" there is a good chance he will actually be at the board meeting tonight, maybe. http://www.heraldbulletin.com/breakingnews/local_story_313211240.html

I'm rather disappointed. I really thought Mr. Brown would be the best candidate.
Mr. Brown is a very good man. He has done an OUTSTANDING job of stepping in and taking care of business after Mrs. Low retired.
PresidentJust a parent who happens to be a member of ACSC Board of Trustees. At all times I speak only for myself as an individual. I cannot, nor will I attempt to, speak for any other member of the board or administration. No member of the ACSC Board of Trustees has any authority as an individual, the authority rests in the Board as a whole only. Sometimes I forget myself and speak as a parent only, a parent who loves and protects and is very bias toward my children.CC, I think that you will really like Dr. Chow.

They will look at things from a Non-Bias point of view.
Hmmmm. Maybe you should let someone take over posting for you then. Someone from outside the community, with an unbiased view. Do you honestly think that someone who is well aware of the shortcomings that we have would not be able to be objective?
This is not to say anything about the incoming super, but until you have spent some time with Mr. Brown and listened to what he has to say, his thoughts, ideas, and possible solutions to the problems, you can't say that he had a biased view. He's been a part of ACSC for a very long time and I know that there are many people in this community, who happen to be VERY critical of the school system who were rooting for him to get the position. He actually thinks outside the box, and THAT is what we also need in someone that is in that position of authority.
????
I should get someone to post for me because i think it was good for them to hire someone from the outside? No offense to brown but seeing as how he does live in this community he is going to have a hard time making the hard choices that need to be made. That's why i believe it was a good move. Sorry if you dont agree but i wont stop posting because of it.
I knew you wouldn't understand. Let me put it another way. In effect, you are saying that when you live in a community, you are biased towards the community. It's just like you posting your opinions on things. Maybe you shouldn't say anything about anything....give opinions or ideas to make things better, because you are biased. Someone should come on here and post for you....because whatever they think or do would mean more...and be better, since they aren't from the community.
I don't believe everyone that lives here is biased. I think there are many objective people. I like to think that I am objective...that I look at both sides before making a decision, or suggestion.
As a sidenote: I know one thing about you CF....I would never want you sitting on a jury if I was a defendent. If there's one thing that you are....you are stedfast in your belief, regardless of the evidence. And that is biased.
You dont know me nearly as well as you think you do.
My opinion is my opinion and nothing more. It's nothing personal agaisnt Brown. Disagree all you want.
After following this thread for some time, I have a few thoughts to share on the subject of the new superintendent search which seems to be coming to an end. First, I assume that those who were empowered to take on this task have/had specific criteria by which they were to conduct the search and criteria that the candidates must meet. Having known Mr. Brown for a number of years (and well enough to consider him a friend), I ALSO assume that he would certainly meet that criteria. That is not to say that the other candidates DID NOT or that he was necessarily the best of the candidates. But I do believe that we have missed an opportunity in not selecting him, although Mr. Chow may be a fine candidate.
Secondly, I find it interesting that there are those who SEEM to believe that ONLY by bringing in an outsider, can real change and progress take place. Obviously that mode of thinking presupposes that once an individual has been in a system for some period of time, he/she becomes stagnated in the "old way" of doing business and is no longer productive (or at least progressive) in that system. Perhaps there is some merit to that line of thinking, but condiser this: What happens if Mr. Chow IS entrenched in the ways of the system he comes from, and even though his ideas worked THERE, it doesn't mean that they will be the magic pill for the problems HERE.
I know nothing about Mr. Chow. He may turn out to be the greatest thing for the Anderson schools (I hope so). But I will share what I think. If within a few short months, things do not show an immediate and substantial uptick in ALL categories that have been discussed (ad nauseum) in the threads here, those same people whose only solution has been "throw the bums out" will be making signs and building bon fires against the new superintendent.
Why do they call it "Common Sense" when so damn few people have it?
