I don't mean small town politics but political machine type corruption.
How bad is it? Non existent, present but fairly innocuous? Or a problem that negatively impacts the general populace when conducting day to day business and life?
My regular golfing buddy played in the KCCA golf tournament at Grandview on Friday and brought some handouts about their battle against the landfill. Read the chronology of events and pay close attention to the actions (or lack, thereof) of our county officials. I did and they smell worse than any landfill ever could. What is their motivation for refusing to oppose this dump across from Killbuck Elementary that could easily pollute our water supply? Instead, it appears that they are tacitly supporting this ecological nightmare which could put a black mark on our city and county that could never be erased at a time when we need to attract businesses more than ever?
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. - Thomas Jefferson
If you've been reading the AFP since you've been a member, you would probably have a reasonable idea of others' perceptions of the local political climate.
“If you treat an individual as he is, he will stay as he is; but if you treat him as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Corruption/politics = hand/glove = foot/shoe, etc.
Sure seems like it, sometimes, SM, but don't use too broad a brush. We have a few, one up here that sincerely care cares about their his constituents. I'll give you a hint. He's a state representative and he's not a Democrat. He doesn't make the front page very often but he has sponsored lots of legislation that has benefitted our county.

This kind of corruption seems to be growing in many cities and towns across the country. I'll take a look at the Harold Bullitins Police Blotter then to get an idea of just how much corruption you have in Anderson. This has been my biggest single nemesis when trying to find a community for my radio station with technical and environmental factors running a distant second place.
No different than many other towns across America
The prisoner wishes to say a word.............Freedom!!!!!!!
Some of us have had more problems with local officials than others, depends on who you are asking.
I should have said have problems or seen problems.
Troubled America, 'what' do you do..?
It is not length of life, but depth of life.

How a Man plays the game shows something of his character
How he loses shows all of it..

the hardest part of doing nothing, is knowing when your done.
If you go online read the Herald Bulletin's police blotter. We have had SEVERAL city officials arrested on alledged crimes.
