Hi all!

First I would like to address Palehorse. The items that began with Mayor Ockomon were to show what spending has occurred under him and if it had not occurred we may not be facing paying for trash pick up. I want to see Anderson grow and develop into the city it once was. I will not stand for more taxes and fees on people in this city. I will not stand on the sidelines. People are not aware they are getting ready to get hit with a trash fee. I am sure the fliers are to inform people they are getting ready to pay more out of their pocket for something they have never had to pay for. There is a facebook group on this movement for Rebuilding Anderson. The group is called ReBuild Anderson it is a public open group anyone can join and it will help keep people informed of important votes that will affect them and their money. I am sure we would like the support and comments from everyone here and your friends! The group is bipartisan it will not choose sides except for what it believes is best for Anderson. Check it out! So now lets all call our council men and women and let them know we don't want to pay for trash pick up!

Thanks for the follow up LRA, and I am very surprised (and happy) to see that you folks care enough to follow up on the initiatives you choose to pursue.

Those "Mayor" bullet points made me suspicious and your group had my attention until I read them. (Now I am happy I posted this topic too, since it provided a venue for you to address my concerns). I suppose I've just read a bit too much of the "sour grapes" over the last mayoral election for my own good, eh?!

It appears your group's concerns are shared by this writer.

I also want to thank your group for their efforts, for until I got that flier I was not even aware of what was going on, so thank you. (I wouldn't have been likely to see it in the HB since I rarely read it.)

The seniors can't afford to keep paying. We just got a 17% increase in sewer bills, which I thought that Smith had gotten Fed money for the new sewers.  Guess not.  SS will only go so far.

Anyone can call the City Clerks office and find out who there council person is and the phone number and email address.  648-6075

I am with you Colts Fan! I'll not vote for anyone supporting this proposal!

I have the list at home, on the flier. If KP has no objections I'll post them herein this evening when I get home. (Unless someone beats me to it).

LRA, can you post a copy of that flier in here, or at least the list it provides?

Don't forget the new wheel tax and the additional COIT they'll try to sock you with.  Only government can never do with less.

Yeah, they pimp slapped me with that wheel tax when I had to renew my plates last month! 25 bucks, even on my motorcycle!

I won't say that none of this is local issues, but honestly, the root of the problem is so much higher up the chain than any city councilman or the mayor of Anderson.  Public funding in Indiana is in a major mess right now.

You can find your councilmans name and contact information on the city of Anderson website.

http://www.cityofanderson.com/citycouncil/

As a final statement, if you really want to be heard by your councilman, when you call, offer some workable suggestions as an alternative.  How can I say this correctly... When someone calls me and says "If you vote for that we will be sure that you are voted out of office next time around" but offers nothing else it is very fursterating and not at all helpful.  I have heard this discussed for over a year now and I am sure that they have explored every other option they can find, but often someone more removed from the situation can have different input.

If nothing else, ask them to explain to you why this is what they see as the option we have to go with.

No the real problem is Anderson is not as big as it used to be. Scale down and get over it.

I hope that you have a great day today and I that your tomorrow is even better than you can imagine..
