No the real problem is Anderson is not as big as it used to be. Scale down and get over it.
Amen.
As to Tobi's suggestion. There are no excuses for overspending during good times and raising taxes when the good times end. A "tough decision" for a politician usually means spending more of someone else's money. Kind of like the "tough decision" for a spendaholic is applying for a new credit card.
I know we would all like to see this voted down. But since there has been so little said about it and so many people unaware I would like to see the council at least table it for 30 days. Time to give the public to catch up since this seems like it has been rushed through without much notice. Give time also for council people to state their case and or come up with NEW ideas to save money. I think this is a good middle ground. Then in 30 days they can vote knowing they have done right by informing the public.
Im not saying that the issue is right or wrong, all I wanted to say was that if you only say "don't vote for this or we'll vote you out of office" that is not helpful and usually percieved differently than you want it to be, however, if you call (or email) and say "Please don't vote for this, have you tried...." or "Have you looked into other options, and why is this the best"
I just thought that I would be helpful in trying to suggest more effective ways to talk to your representatives.
I mean that just calling and saying "I'll vote you out if you vote for this" sounds a bit....I don't know what word to use, but after 50 people say it you get the point that they are against it, but if no one asks you to explain your position or why you will vote for or against it...
Don't live in the city and pay dearly for trash service in county. Think what Tobi is trying to say--express your views without threats and offer any solutions or ideas that might help. There is always the voting booth to take care of the problem at some point. Also showing up at council meetings should have a big effect. You may not get what you want but council should get the message.

Good point! If it is not coming in then cuts have to be made, NOT expenses added.

PresidentJust a member of ACSC Board of TrusteesSo if we don't have an idea we should not express our views to our elected officials who are supposed to support the people that put them in office?
TAXES = NO GROWTH
Not really what I said.
