Well, we have Rick (Jimmy Hoffa) Muir who is the AFT union president, and Ollie (Sheriff) Dixon, who was 663 union president. Plus the other Demos who court the local unions for support at election time. So I doubt it really matters to them. Whatcha' think?
This really erks me.... All the new taxes and fees... Then they get raises?!
I don't like the idea of any of the unions getting the raise. With that being said, I don't see how if you are doing for all but one that was missed, how you can not do for all.
That is why they have the "Me too" clause...usually it will help the city. Then they can tell one union "We can't do that for you, we will then have to do it for all the others that didn't get it...."
This isn't really a raise though. I think of a raise as being an increase in your hourly wage. This is a one time a year payment. A bit different.
I am not defending this or saying it is right by any means...just adding my comments.
Please excuse me for eating all the chocolate...
Thanks for your insight. Glad you could explain it better than me.
If we are in such a money crunch why isn't longevity pay being thrown out all together?

Can you please give me an example when it would help the CITY.

What I think is interesting we have had all these tax increases and fees... Yet I have heard the administration is investigating how to apply to get the property tax caps lifted in our area. This will take real focus right after the november elections from what I hear. I would love to get a quote from the Mayor if this is true or not. Maybe some of you other people could call and ask him.

How is more money in your pocket either on your bi-weekly check or on a yearly check not a raise? How is it a bit different? More money is a raise. When you get your w-2 at the end of the year is this money excluded because it is not part of your pay?
