NCLB Shuttle's?

I hear that NCLB students will be picked up in the neighborhoods and bussed to their districted school. There a shuttle will pick them up and take them to their choice school (which I believe are Eastside and one other one?). What do you guys think? Will this cut down on the gas prices for them? But, how long will be the rides to and from school for said child? Example:child picked up at w 29th and Lincoln will ride to Erskine on a bus and then unload and reload a shuttle that will drive him to Eastside Elem. Then reverse in afternoon. For anyone wondering Erskine is out off of Madison in about the 63rdish? are. And Eastside is on 109 just south of the Payless on the East side of town. |

If they unload at 8:10 am at Erskine how much time will they miss out of class everyday? Will the teacher's be forced to not start the day until ALL the kids are there or will it be a small amount of kids so they fall behind?
I can't speak for this year....
In the past, the students who were shuttled like this arrived at the correct school around 830...this is also about the same time that all the breakfast kids are finally cleared out of the cafeteria. Most teachers have some kind of seat work for the rest of the class while they wait for the others to get there.
Please excuse me for eating all the chocolate...
I know that in my class, we had morning work and then we waited for announcements. after announcements, the class went to the restroom. We didn't actually start the day until after we came back from the restroom. By then, all of my shuttle kids were there. Btw, I didn't do this just to accommodate the shuttle kids. It really didn't serve a point to start anything until after announcements because we woud have to stop anyway. And I always like to take everyone to the restroom at the start of the day so we won't have that interruption. At the end of the day, I had self selected reading, so it didn't matter that the shuttle kids had to leave 10 minutes early.
Very astute time management, Nubian. Thumbs up!
Thank you, makes me a bit more comfortable with it.
