Okay, it's not Anderson News, but I didn't know where else to put it.

The Indiana K9 Search and Recovery team were called by Fishers PD to search a field close to where the man, missing since August, worked.  I am a member of INK9SAR.  This is a great group of people and dogs.  I am glad to see them get the recognition for a great job.

This will hopefully give the family members some closure.

You have a K9 working dog?

I have a pup that I am training with the INK9SAR to be a working dog.  She is an 8 month old Giant Schnauzer.  I have been training her since she was 10 weeks old.  So right now she is a K9 playing dog.  She is doing really well in training, though.

Medic has a SAR dog.  I am not 100% sure, but I think it is a Trailing Search Dog.  So, it searches for live victims.  He could tell you more about his own dog.  I just know he has it and doesn't call me to help with trails and trainings.

I always thought those would be great jobs. How's it going?

Like I said, she is doing really well in training.  We just got back to training after a group wide break for the holidays.  She is doing an excellent job on cadaver.  She was struggling a bit on trailing, so we dropped that for a while until she gets a little older.

Didn't know Schnauzers had the nose for it.

You would be surprised.  Most dogs can do it very, very well.

Maybe a little small for search work.  You need to have a dog big enough that it won't wear out too quickly from running it's little 3 inch legs to search a big field or building.
