David,

I am in your boat, as well. While I used to know Anderson, that was 40 years ago.... Upon returning to the area, I am charmed by many things (farmer's market socializing, Fall festivals, young waitresses that call me 'Hon', ham and beans and cornbread, good BBQ.....), but am starting to feel .... uh... a bit bored. Where *are* the coffee houses (Alexandria, someone mentioned?) w/ live music and poetry!? Where is a good jazz/blues bar?? Do I have to go to Indy? Why? I've seen/heard some fine musicians here, already... playing in parks and in retirement homes. Looks like it's hard for creative people, around here, to find regular gigs? Or am I missing something? There's nothing worse than someone new to an area coming into it and making instant pronouncement. Can someone slap me down / set me right??? I hope I AM wrong!

Watch the newspapers, or I think that the city has a calendar online for current events, it might not be a weekly event, but more like a once a month thing. I enjoy listening to Jeff Hardin and his band (can't remember what it is called).

To my knowledge there is no jazz in Anderson.  If there was and I knew about it I would be there. There are several bars around town that have groups playing but nothing I want to hear.

I am going to go see Rupert in 30 minutes.  It is in Chesterfield/Daleville.

If any of you are there I will have on all black sweats and the sweat shirt will have poker cards on it.

I got my 19 year old daughter a T-Shirt from Rupert and she wore that thing forever.  I sent her the info on this visit.  She has got to be Rupert's biggest fan.   To bad she has to work.

If you see me walk by and just say rusty or my name Ralph and I will gladly meet any of my cyber friends.

P.S. I will be having my designated driver/wife with me so no bad words.

Have a great day

I hope that you have a great day today and I that your tomorrow is even better than you can imagine..

There used to be a poetry / coffee house on 8th street accross from the Nile Restaraunt, which is great itself with belly dancing on Friday nights.  I don't mind the Casino.  The speedway can be fun.  I don't particularly enjoy the 59th street pub or whatever it's called now.  I do however like to go see bands at Shouts or Kroakerheads or sometimes they have  things in the park by the YMCA.  They have Wii for seniors at the library(can't join cause I'm not quite there yet) but I would think that would be fun.  I have gone roller skating with my girlfriends all summer on Tuesdays they have ladies skate during the summer only $2 to get in.  I also enjoy book discussion clubs, crafting clubs, and video gaming.  There's plenty to do if you wanna do it.

I tried that roller skating thing a few years back.  Dang near killed myself.  I guess after breaking both my feet at the same time a few years back takes the roller skating option off the table.  Doctors said they fixed them but not the roller skating part.  Heck I can walk.  I guess I can live with that.

The Chipendale thing... yeah baby...

I have seen both of the coffee houses that were for poetry and music close.  Now there is only Starbucks and Dunkin Dognuts.  No play there.  There was one on 8th street as well as one on Main downtown.  Both gone.

I do want all the ladies on her to show up for the Chippendale dancers.  Total-Mayhem, Cybergeezer and myself are the fellas on the stage that night.   What we do is put on speed-o swimming thing and then we put a smoked sausage in the our speed-o things.

Women do not even notice our appearance after that.

One night I made a bunch of $$$$ I ended up with almost 5.00.  OK it was the wife that gave me the 5.00 and told me to get my arse off the stage and go home.

Hey T_M and CG hope you had a better night than I did.

When I got to the dressing so I could leave like I was told I noticed that the wife took that 5.00 out of my own billfold.

Sneaky woman right there.

I hope that you have a great day today and I that your tomorrow is even better than you can imagine..
