Every sports analyst says this guy is a moron for listening to his agent. Jerry Rice and Rodney Harrison are both calling him out. He's making my team look bad, IMO they should let him sit out. He will be begging for that contract next year wheh he slips to the 2nd or 3rd round. |

Every sports analyst I have heard agrees that Crabtree is an idiot, except ESPN's Mel Kiper. He actually said the other day that he believes that Crabtree will do better (pay wise) if he sits out a year. What planet is he living on?
Because I am a Browns fan (JLSOhio51) and a Colts fan, I followed the Brown's responses after they worked Crabtree out prior to the draft. They chose to pass on him because of what they thought was a prima donna attitude. They may suck as a team, but I think they got this one correct. OH and BTW, take heart, San Fran looks to be much better this year than in years passed. Singletary's style seems to be taking hold.
Why do they call it "Common Sense" when so damn few people have it?
I agree surrounding the 9er's. I like Singletary's style of play and intensity and I believe he will be succesful in transferring some of that to the team.
I just wish he'd leave the Xtian cross wearing to the priests and pastors of the world. . . For me it errodes his credibility. . . Crabtree's another TO waiting to happen IMHO. . .
AFD Heavy Rescue Unit RULES!
I don't care for TO but at least he proved himself as a player before het got the attitude crabtree has.

Good point CF. I have never been a T. O. fan either, but he HAS produced, even in the years he was destroying his teams. Maybe I will be proven wrong, but I look for this year to be a pretty quiet year for T. O. (by T. O.'s standards). Remember, this is a contract year for him. How he does THIS year affects his money for however many years he can negotiate in a new contract. WATCH OUT NEXT YEAR!

From what I have read and heard Crabtree thinks he was the best player in the draft and he wants to be paid like a number 1 pick. I hope he sets the season out and then some how doesn't get taken until the 2nd round next time around. Even better the NFL puts a max. on what rookies vcan be paid ( like the NBA ) and he gets caught up in that. I may be wrong but I think the NFL's contract is up next season. If not soon. I know the head of the players assoc. has told the players to prepare for a lockout. Crabtree could be on the outside looking in and lose a lot of money.
From what I understand, next year COULD work out in Crabtree's favor. You are correct, the contract does run out sometime next year. But, next year is an uncapped year, so the salaries could easily go through the roof. Oh - and he's demanding to be paid more than the first wide receiver drafted (at #6 overall).
There other thing that complicates next year is that San Fran CAN trade Crabtree after March, but before the draft (if he sits out this year). If he is traded, he will be an unrestricted rookie free agent. Could be BIG BUCKS. It all depends on whether or not the owners have the ba**s to hold the line and not reward this guy for his stuidity.

After craptree SAID he should be paid higher than the #1 pick 49ers should offically end all ties with him IMO. Let the piece of crap sit out. No one will sign him for anything now after he made that statement.
I wish Bankruptcy on any team dumb enough to sign him for any more than what the 49ers offered him. That includes the 49ers even though they are my team. I'll just find a new team if they do give him any mre money.

I feel your pain CF. I gotta tell you, I have been a Cleveland Browns fan since as long as I can remember. I remember the Mayflower delivery that brought the Colts to Indy and became a fan a few years later. Both franchises have made some horrible decisions with which I have had a problem over the years. I'm not sure what either team could do for me to wish such dismal outsomes befall the (MY) teams.
I agree, Crabtree is a jerk and I hope the San Fran organization doesn't reward him for what he is doing. If the team caves, it will set a horrible precedent that will eventually visit EVERY team in the NFL. But, what Crabtree AND San Fran are both doing amounts to a business transaction. Both parties have to do whatever each side sees as the best choice for them. When you look at it, there's not much difference between this situation and the Elway and E. Manning situations where the players REFUSED to play for the teams that drafted them. Jake Cutler and Brandon Marshall in Denver are only different because they are (or were) ON a team but refuse(d) to play until they get (or got) what they wanted.
I wish you luck, but unless the Colts/Browns start gunning down people in the streets, or violating the laws of God and man, I will probably remain a fan. I do however, reserve the right to be unhappy if they make stupid choices.
