1900's America's fire service


The Anderson Fire Department was established in 1869 with approximately 60 volunteers. Four years later, three full time firefighters were hired as apparatus handlers. One was a hose wagon, a hook & ladder and a Chiefs buggy all housed in City Hall. Located at 8th & Central
139 years later,,, A.F.D. is alive and well, Still producing some outstanding firefighters.
