I see a few things missing here that I expected to see, perhaps they will be added later or will be covered under somone's comment section...If the administrations proposals for "redistricting" are brought up, should make for an interesting meeting.  Please, if you can, come and help out!

I have been told that the superintendent will present her redistricting plans to the public at the meeting tomorrow night.  Should be interesting.

So Anderson is redistricted again, so it is the little kids that get screwed again, sorry, that is just my own personal opinion, no wonder our kids are so messed up.

Changing school is not was is messing up the children.  We have worse problems than redistricting with kids not knowing the basics.  And not all kids are messed up.  IMO  Please give them a chance to present this and keep a open mind, don't spread terror and have the kids losing sleep. It is a presentation, Toby has been asking for ideas.

I know, but I also know that one of the schools that might get closed is really scared, and so are the kids. On the church van that we drive each week, we have at least three kids that have changed schools six times in the last three years, partially due to the last redistricting but more because of them having to move, they get so emotional each time, it is horrible, I do my best, we are only with those kids for a short time each week, I just feel so sorry for the kids! Oh, and the teachers and school personnel that might be effected.

I was not trying to say anything out of line, if one of the schools closes, it will change where some of my family members go to school, and I don't know how well that adjustment will work.

Hey your not out of line... this is a place where we can get rid  of stress..And I do understand. But maybe if they do go to less schools, kids that have to move more often might not leave their district. The boundaries with less schools would be bigger. Maybe give the parents more choices when moving, its a thought. And the teachers would be moving with the children, most of them. If they keep the smaller schools Toby said more layoffs, they would loose the teacher anyway. This could be a win win if we keep a Positive -Open  mind.

Honestly, I have to warn you all that something major HAS to happen.  WE all wanted our property tax reductions, this reduces the income to ACS so we have to make accomidations.

Krol is right, with larger schools, there will be less change with our majorly mobile families, we will have to just love our kids through this, and they will adjust more quickly then we (as adults) will.  If it makes anyone feel better, the potiential changes will go to more than just the elementries.

I have a daughter in a school that will probably be closed . While I am concerned about some of the emotions that she and some of her classmates will go through I welcome the possible move to a bigger school . From what I have seen the bigger schools have a little more to offer the students than the smaller schools . The larger schools have more up to date heating and air conditioning . They have larger lunch rooms and libraries . My hope is that in a larger school there will be more parents participating in the parent clubs .

Sometimes I think we misjudge the ability of our children to adapt to new surroundings . As parents we get set in our ways and hate to see things change . Cameras that don't use film , phones without cords , hair stylist instead of barbers , and whatever happened to ... oh well you get the point .We made it through all of those changes and we will make it through this one . As a great poster once said ,"  This could be a win win if we keep a positive -open mind .

Tobi, I know what you mean by loving our kids more, but I think some of the parents that have children in ACS don't exactly love their kids the way some of us would, I am certain that some of you will understand. Then you also have the parents that are just horrible in general, you have seen them at the store, you know the ones that yell and scream at their kids!

I agree with you completely that some parents don't have a clue about how to raise their kids let alone give them the love and attention they need . My wife is very involved in our daughter's school and it warms my heart when we are out in public and one of the students runs up to her to give her a hug . I'm am sure you get this same feeling when you pick them up and take them to church . Just continue to pray for them and give them all of the love you can . They not only need it but they deserve it . Maybe , just maybe , when they go to a new school next fall they will meet friends that will be friends for life . And maybe , just maybe , there will be teachers and principals and wonderful people like you to love all over them .

As of January 1st we will have the option to pull our children from ACS and enroll them in a school of our choice within the county we reside, I am sure this will add to the financial short comings for ACS.
