Zealot ![]() I saw where today an article from that other place was printed that said tha ACLU views it as a first amendment issue. Someone within the school system, who of course didn't give their name, said they weren't sure it was going to happen. Finally we get to see some legal action on this thing. Bring on the armies of lawyers. Instead of court though, lets give them swords and shields and let them duke it out. Just to make sure not too many of the lawyers survive though, how about we introduce randomly timed lion releases into the mix? Thanks for starting the thread Sippy! Wed, 11/21/2007 - 12:59pm
Clear ![]() In a discussion I recently had with someone from the IPS system, it was determined that the school board is perfectly within rights to mandate school uniforms. Has anyone ever found where the courts have decided that the uniforms were unconstitutional, and the schools dropped the mandate? I've seen a few court cases where sections of uniform policies where ruled against in the court, but not the whole policy, as of yet. Wed, 11/21/2007 - 1:04pm
Zealot ![]() Oh it is fully within its rights. The scrubs thing is because ROTC can wear their uniforms. ACS may well ban anytthing other than their uniforml. That would resolved the whole mess, even if it wasn't for the better. Wed, 11/21/2007 - 1:08pm
Clear ![]() I don't like your avatar over here. [/blunt] Wed, 11/21/2007 - 1:10pm
Zealot ![]() Why not? I love the military cocked hat and the top of the Constitution!! What is not to like about that? Wed, 11/21/2007 - 1:11pm
Carpenter I am surprised it has taken this long for the ACLU to get involved. Since I did not swee the article from the other place how much of it do you think is correct and how much is screwed up? Wed, 11/21/2007 - 1:12pm
Old Dog ![]() This thread will NEVER make it to 300 pages!! I have spoken! Wed, 11/21/2007 - 1:13pm
Zealot ![]() The uniforms themselves are a non-starter with the ACLU. They know they don't have any ground so they have been quiet. They did get involved as soon as they were asked though about the scrubs. They are just being kind and waiting for ACS to decide what it is going to do. I think it is on the money. Honestly though, there isn't a lot of opportunity to screw it up. The ACLU will help ACS move if it doesn't do it soon. |
