I went to the Anderson Speedway night of Thrills mainly to see the IOFS (International Outlaw Figure 8 Series). Lots of excitement and there was a very large crowd.
In the heat races were exciting of the IOFS was very close.
The front wheel driver feature was good.
In the IOFS (International Outlaw Figure 8 Series) started 23 cars for 50 laps. About half way through the race #23 Eddie VanMeter and #22 (driver unknown at this time) was racing for the lead and there was some bumping. #22 got mad and rearended #23 Eddie VanMeter on purpose. Got along side and #23 bumped his side. Then #22 continued to get into #23. Both were going around in circles. The safety worker was running for his life. I hope the safety worker would have gotten extra money for is working during the IOFS since driver #23 Eddie VanMeter and #22 were very wreckless.
In my opinon #23 and #22 for the Outlaw figure 8 show have spent a night in jail, because of this. The police went out on the track, because #22 was getting out of his car like he wanted to fight. This is very uncool. Both should be fined and stripped of points. I went there this evening to see the IOFS and went away very unhappy, because it was cold and for the to happen was a big waste of time.
I praise the police for going onto the track.
When #22 was getting out of his car acting like he wants to fight in front of kids is very uncool. If I were KING then I would ban him for Anderson Speedway for at least 1 race, because his actions were very uncool. Both should be fined and stripped of points. A least an apology from both drivers should be posted on the Anderson Speedway/IOFS websites if they would like to race again at either series/track.
The School bus figure was were close calls and the was one bus that almost lost a read bumper.
The trailer was was about 15 cars/trailer (boats, a pop-up trailer, and other items). Some drivers would have thought this was their first time racing.
The demolation race was 7 cars that seemed to miss each other at the beginning.
Next week October 17, 2009 (Saturday) is the ThunderCar Enduro 200, Ed Maynard Memorial 100 for Front Wheel Drives.
Saturday night at the Anderson Speedway was full of action. The temperature was not too bad and the crowd seemed to stay away. The Frankton Fire Department Women Aux. sold 50/50 tickets.
There was a demostration of a new division called "pure stock". Cars looked like you drive on the road with numbers on them and the drivers are new to racing on the track.
The next two races had lots of passing and moving in and out of traffic.
The second race was the Endruo. The Endruo race has only two flags. Green means go and yellow is stop where you are on the track while they clean up the mess and then when the all cleared up then Green. There were 48 cars on the 1/4 mile track of Anderson Speedway. There were lots of action in the infield where a make shift pit crew attempted to change tires, rip of parts of the car that was dragging and put out one fire. During a restart one time a car got air born by running into another car that was slowed/park, but everyone seemed okay. At the half way point 100 laps everyone goes to the pits and make changes if they care to. Back on the track in 10 minutes. Line up when you in the order you were on the track. Green flag dropped and back to racing....about 90 plus laps of green flag racing. There were still lots of cars (seemed like 20 +) on the track. Only 2 cars finished the whole 200 laps.
The third and final race of the night was the Front Wheel Drives with 40 cars taking the green flag. Lots of action with cars going all over the place. A few cars still had their horns and there was a station wagon in the field. There was another car that was black with orange number that seemed like he was spinning other time he went around either end of the tack. At the end of the race, you could tell that he was involved in race. The car was nice and neat at the beginning. Other cars like #2 would be in the race for a few laps then go into the infield for a break, then returned. There were a few like this.
Next week is the last event at Anderson Speedway weekly racing for year 2009 which is another Night of Thrills.
