The Little 500 used to be full of Indy car drivers, back when they all drove anything and everything all the time. Sprints. midgets, champ cars, it didn't matter, they drove them all. Of course that was when drivers got rides based on ability, not sponsor money. Now we have alot of talent missing out, due to some kids rich daddy buying them a ride.

I know it isnt Centeral Indiana, but does anyone ever go see the Prelude to the Dream? I want to got there, hopefully this year.
We do go to Anderson, and Mt. Lawn. But a dirt track would be cool. Maybe even what Kokomo?
Putmanville has some good racing. They keep things moving right along. Last time we were there this summer, we stayed for the A Mains for the sprints, mods, and late models. Drove back to Anderson and Anderson Speedway was just finishing. They don't usually mess around at Putnamville. Had a good field of cars also.
I've never been to Gas City, but everyone tells me they also have good shows. And it's not very far.

I'd forgot all about Jim McWithey. He loaned me his pit pass one year and I thought I owned that place. Wasn't anyplace I couldn't go, LOL. He worked at Heckaman Buick.

Your post is accurate though, soapbox or not. $$ is the name of the game.
Several former Indy 500 drivers ran Anderson (Sun Valley) in the Little 500. A few are: A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, Bud Tinglestad, Jim McAlreath, Rollie Beale, Red Renner, Arnie Knepper, Ronnie Duman.
Don't forget Parnelli Jones.
Sorry. After I reread a few more posts I see he was mentioned. My bad.

Does anyone know where Ray W. Harroun Winner of the first 500 is buried?
Any idea what city and state this photo was taken?

This is a trick question, right?
Ray was/is buried in Anderson Memorial Park.
Who REALLY won the First Indianapolis 500?
