Well not so good a day...but I think I have had worse. Yesterday my dining room ceiling fell in, a big mess I am in right now. We were getting ready to remodel just not good timing. My son in law had knee surgery today so the fix it job was put on hold. We had community development fix our old house 10 years ago. We are just now seeing the shoddy wood they put into it apparently used very bad things and it was totally done wrong. At the time we were so grateful for the fix. Now we are paying. Mold, dirt you name it, I hate old houses..lol

But my son in law came through his surgery with no problems and he will come home tomorrow. My son got home from visiting his sister in Va. just in time to help do a new roof and dry wall..lol

And I am sleeping in my own bed tonight so all is good.. at least till tomorrow when we start tearing away more crap...lol Nite

I love old houses.....they can be a pain in the arse...but they have so much character.  I live in an old school that was built in 1890.  Been remodeled and you would never guess it was once a school.....but I LOVE IT here.  Best investment I ever made!!!  I bet almost everyone of you have driven past my house at some point....and never realized it was once a school.  I even have the old well still on the property and even the watering place thingy that they used for horses.  so much character.......love it!!

Good day. Sold a couple print ads and a web ad - or at least got a strong commitment. Able to start working the internet for money again today. Made small changes to AFP. Posted some content. Checked stats. Emailed some journos about AFP print. One mention at - http://www.journerdism.com/ Hat tip to CJS. You the man.

What we're doing here in Anderson - changing the media for the better - will be looked at by the rest of America eventually. And that may sound grandiose, but you have to dream big to achieve big things. With enough faith, even mountains can be moved.

Lots of good responses about AFP after talking to ~50 business owners or employees of said business. Cold calling sucks, but it's also a good way for me, as publisher, to hear what people think about AFP Web and AFP Print face to face.

Did take some time off to play Upwords with a friend.

All in all, I would say it was a good day. A long day, but a good one.

Spent the day yesterday at a school board conference in Indy...School board conferences are funny things.  It is great to "network" with other board members, but the sessions are a mixed bag.  School districts are so individual and different than so many others...what works well (or doesn't work) else where, may not be possible here.  Funny, we went to one session where a school was talking about their success in community involvement and such.  We were looking to learn...well, they are a very very small school system, growing, above state average in ISTEP, with incredible amount of parental support in everything from athletics to parent teacher groups.  Well, they didn't start out at the same place we are now...we have to figure out how to get to where they started...I am not sure that in Anderson we can do that, but I am hopeful.

Today I have to work all day in a different position than I usually do, get to spend the day looking at people instead of computer screens...this will either be great or really bad, I'll report back later.

Thank you Irish....a true friend...and the Russian vodka was a given.  If i could have gotten to the kitchen the Salmon patties would have been fantastic.  Now if the sun just keeps shinning.

My day yesterday, started out with my nephew staying with me, while I was tending to the dogs (mine and the ones I am watching for my parents) he decided to dump out fish food on the floor for me, not so much help. Only after he did not sleep so well, he is two. Anyway, he can unscrew all caps, so nothing is safe with him. He also really likes spray bottles, thanks to those that did not tell me. After cleaning up the messes he made, his dad comes to get him for a little bit. Go with my sister to get new furniture, a couple pieces are messed up, but they will make it right for her, ordering new items. Eat pizza with her, it was great. Got home, got my nephew back, he was not ready for bed although it was very late, got the feeling he was loaded with sugar/pop, anyway, got him settled down, went to bed at midnight, started my day again at 5:30. I am so tired.

KPaul-did you try Skyline, Culvers, or Ritters? They seem to like to advertise a lot in the little things we get in the mail or in the paper inserts.

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.

You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.
