ACS Secretary makes 15k in OT???
I heard that a secretary at ACS made over $15,000 in overtime last year!!!  Someone said they make around $15 an hour, which means she was paid around 20 hours every week in overtime!  Sounds pretty fishy to me.
No wonder ACS is hurting for money with spending like that!
Tobi - do you know anything about this?  How can this happen?   How can I get a job there?

She should have made right around $31k a year.

Just something that makes you go HUH?

I am wrong, it should have been a 10 month position, they work a little longer than the schools and come back before schools start, so I am not sure exactly what her total salary would be be, maybe around $28k.

I don't know if I would blame the individual as much as the supervisor, who is supposed to know the union rules?

It is my understanding that she is not the top on the seniority list, I don't know how the contract is worded, but I thought OT was offered on seniority basis, guess I am wrong.

Sounds the union is failing to do their job, I wonder if the union rep has been contacted and is aware of this situation. I know from my many dealings with the union, that if they are doing their job, then it could be possible, depending on the way the contract is written that ACS could have to pay anyone that should have been offered this overtime first the same amount of money that the person that worked the overtime earned, I mean that if person A should have been offered the OT and person B was the only one offered, then person A is entitled to recoup the amount paid to person B.
I have had many dealings with the union, and this is not acceptable, someone needs to speak up!

Has anyone verified this or is it just rumor at this point?  It certainly wouldn't surprise me the way the ACS misspends money but I'm surprised that the ACS has a need to pay any overtime under any circumstances.  After all, overtime is usually the result of unforseen variations in work volume, the illness/absence of another employee, etc., and, since Irma Stewart is clairvoyant ("Killbuck will be closed, if not this year, then next year"), these events should be able to be planned for well in advance thus eliminating the need for overtime.
