Your publisher was on a top secret mission in Pendleton today ... and locked himself out of his car. Didn't lock the keys in the car ... just locked the doors then found out the key doesn't work to them. Heh. Long story short, the Pendleton Police (in their brand new Dodge Magnum CSI vehicle) were a great help. They hadn't heard about AFP yet, so I let them know. If they're reading, thanks again!

I was in Pendleton today too....but my button thingy works to unlock my car...lol
What?? You can't understand what I am saying? I am speaking plain penguin!!
First time I had locked it. I know the key doesn't fit the trunk, but I assumed it would work on the doors. Heh.
I'm not complaining, though, as Becky Beretta is GREAT on gas... What were you driving? I was back and forth so much I probably saw ya...
Those new Pendleton Police Cars are pretty sweet...
Lucky you were in a small town. APD is not allowed to do unlocks......all we can do is call the person a wrecker ($$$) Years ago they done it (at least 20) but supposedly someone sued the PD for some damage to the lock and that was the end of the story.
Kpaul, what are you going to do if you have a flat and can not get in the trunk? Call me chicken but that would scare me.
Pendleton has some very nice people there. After all we have Fireguy amd Marine/EMT :)
Yeah, at first they said wrecker - which is $50. I told them I was from out of town. I have to commend them again for the great job. I told them I didn't care if there was damage and I'd even sign something to that effect. The officer just asked to make sure it wasn't an automatic lock for some reason then had it open in about 2 minutes.
Good small town community policing...
He also said that I wasn't the first person that day to have locked themselves out of their car - although my situation was different a little.
Thanks for weighing in, ObII
It's in the back seat Colts Fan. I'll probably open the trunk with a screwdriver eventually to store the stuff in there - sans any valuables.
Yeah, even if we wanted to do it we have absolutely nothing to do it with, not even an old coat hanger.
I'll put that on the "Thing for AFP to buy the police..." list that we'll (hopefully) get to in a year or so... ;)
Whatever he had was a long piece of rubber coated bendable something with a little claw like thing at the end.
I'm just waiting for the day when I lock my keys in my car. Those who know me know it happens often (knock on wood!). I only have one key to my car and there's no Acura dealer here to get a copy made.

Official AFP Tourist
Yeah, I was gonna stop today at the GM dealer and get a key made, but no time. I'll get one eventually most likely. I think they're only like $4 or something...
