I am usually skeptical of these kind of things, but one evening, I decided to order one. They were offering a 30-day free trial period. I had a little trouble setting it up, however, that turned out to be a conflict with a program I had installed on my computer that I didn't need. Once it was removed, it worked like a charm. Only $20 a year for phone service as long as you have a high-speed internet connection. You will have to read the information on the site to get it all. No need to type it all out when it can be read on their site. So far, I am extremely happy. No more $60-$70 phone bills through AT&T! Free long distance. Free directory assistance. You can take it wih you when traveling and its like you are sitting in your own home. Would definately recommend this to person on a fixed income as well. Currently, I use mine on a laptop through a wireless router. No problems. Gonna save peak time cell minutes now!!!! TBK |

Check it out. This is just to bump it on the Recent Comments page.

I know of 2 people that have them. One in Indy and the other in Pendleton. The one in Pendleton had to get an Anderson phone number. Both are satisfied customers. The person in Pendleton did away with their regular land line.
I apologize for starting another thread about this. I didn't realize that one had been started.
Before I ordered one, I did a lot of research... even using Google. I never order anything that I am not already familiar with without doing research nowadays.
When they offered the 30-day trial, I decided to get one. No harm if I can send it back if I was not satisfied. Other then the original conflict with a program (Nero), I have been impressed with the clarity and service offered. I just got off the phone talking with my brother that lives in Chicago. Sound was clear and strong. No delays. No static. We talked for over 30 minutes.
As with anything, there are always going to be people that do not have as good as an experience as others. With the 30-day trial, I recommend those that haven't tried it, to do so. The thought of saving $800 a year in phone charges (based on a $70/month phone bill) was enough to at least give it a try. At the least, I have an alternate phone number that only costs $20 a year that I can give out to businesses and use on forms and such so I don't have to list my cell phone number. The voicemail comes with the MJ, so I can just check it every day to see if I have any messages.
When I registered the MJ, it asked for your area code. Then it lists the available exchanges for that area code. 810 and 203 were available for the Anderson area. I chose which one I wanted and within a minute or so, I had a number. I have called out and had family call me. Have not had any issues at all. I even purchased a CHEAP cordless phone to plug into it. Works fine.
TBK.. I don't have any personal experience with one of these..
Found this report on line..
I had posted it in the other thread too..

TheBigKahuna, you are fine. Sorry if I came across harsh. No need to apologize for starting another thread about this. If you did not know then no harm. I just thought I would share with you some information. If you use the info then fine. If not then that is up to you.
Good job on doing research!
What was the conflict with a program (Nero)?
I agree with you about the 30-day trial and recommending those that haven't tried it, to do so. You like it great. If not then send it back.
My phone bill is around $21-$22 a month. I only have a basic line with 2 features.
1) No answer transfer which transfers to my cell phone which I have caller ID. If I do not answer then the person can leave a messasge.
2) Busy line transfer which transfers to my cell phone which I have caller ID. If I am on the phone then the person can leave a messasge. (Another trick is if I will be gone for a few days or I know I am expecting a call I take the home phone off the hook and this rings direct to my cell phone.
I have one phone number people can call me. I only have one place to check for phone message. If cell phone is dead, I still have my land line and I do not have to give my cell phone number out to everyone.
This did not work well when I was a Cingular customer for nightmares 3 months and I was able to get out of my contract with no EXTRA cost. Thank you Cingular.
