Ok let me start out by saying I detest Windows Vista and can't wait to shrug this version of windows. HOWEVER, is windows 7 any better? Do you have any experience with the new windows you'd like to share? I'm trying to decide if I should stay with the devil I know or not.

Because you are having a problem, good idea to seek a solution.
I upgraded to Win Home Prem 7.  Menus are different.  So, must learn again where the functions/options are like screen resolution.
Not all applicaions worked.  Must contact application maker of the software and get current versions to work with Win 7.  Some had to be uninstalled before the upgrade and put back after.  There is a Microsoft test program you can download to check for compatability before going to Win 7.

It does boot faster.  Don't know if it is more stable.  Reviews say it is.

No simple answer to your question.  It may be better but may not be a total fix.  A lot depends on your hardware and applicians.

Yes, early Vista was problematic.  I persevered, upgraded my computer and wouldn't go back to the dark ages of XP.  Speed and application selection is super compared to XP but don't try to install it on older (2 years) machines.  Most of us hate change and that, along with Vista's early problems, gave it a bad rap.

I can't find $200 worth of advantage to MS 7.  MS was tardy with an upgrade and they've hyped it to death but the reality of the benefits don't seem to be there.  My advice?  MS Office Pro with on the Vista OS and you're in tall cotton.

BTW, Braveheart, Outlook Express is, indeed, useless.  Outlook, on the other hand, which is not provided with any tech support by Comcast (Insight prior) but is with AT&T is the cat's butt.

Running XP pro on the 5 year old custom built pc I own and installing Office 07 out of necessity for my wife's work. Other than that I don't expect to be having anything to do with MS and it windows 7 time bomb.

Primarily I use a mac with OS Tiger, and my cyber life is far more peaceful since converting. I try to stay away from that pc thing and microsux. . . for obvious reasons. . . Sometimes though, I am forced to endure it because of the requirements of external systems. So I installed office 07 on my mac and run it in mac's parallels program. . . Maybe one day the world will be free of this MS disease and tyranny. . .one day. . .
