Javascript is short code snippets that perform functions in webpages. In other words very small. compact programs that work independently of the html coding. Because they are small programs, javascript can also be used to deliver viruses to unsuspecting internet users. Since this is a possible threat, not everyone will allow javascript to run in their browsers. Unfortunately, like anything a few bad apples can ruin the whole bunch and people who are leary of it often miss out on the enhancements and capabilities that javascript provides to most websites.

My java script is turned off, I think. Is that why YouTube videos do not play on mine?

As with any program, there are bugs and vulnerabilities that a hacker can penetrate to run malicious code. Through my research though, more often than not, it isn't the flash player that is the problem, but coding on the pages which direct you to download a version of flash player that really isn't at all. Instead it downloads a virus or spyware pretending to be flash player. Youtube is guilty of having this coding problem.
OWO, it's obvious to me that you are no stranger to google per your previous post where you 'ran across' the machine code. The answers to your questions are easily found in the first couple links provided by the google search engine. (or most likely other search engine of your choice.) Please don't waste my time with questions that are this easily answered with a couple of keywords and a click of your mouse.
Oh, ok, I see whats going on... Allow me to respond this way: I posed what I thought was a serious question concerning a complicated issue to the uninitiated, which I am. Have you read the posting at the link you posted? In part it reads: "Strictly speaking, Adobe Flash is the authoring environment and Flash Player is the virtual machine used to run the Flash files, but in colloquial language these have become mixed: "Flash" can mean either the authoring environment, the player, or the application files." To me that means gibberish. Maybe you two understand it, but I do not. I am sorry to have bothered you.

As CC-Gal mentioned, the best way to learn is to have a hunger for knowledge and teach yourself. With Google it's a lot easier to do this that at any other time in the history of man.
CC, New Dell puter. Not when I am on line only when playing games, several times the monitor goes black then comes back up by its self. I then get this message, Display driver stopped responding, display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has sucessfully recovered. This puter is only 3/4 weeks old.
Also, if your computer is using Windows Vista, look in Control Panel > Device Manager and tell me what is listed under Display Adapters. (I am wanting to determine what your graphics card is.)
If it's Windows XP then look in Control Panel > System > Hardware (tab) > Device Manager.
Some games are too graphically intensive for the graphics card, or you may have a bad graphics driver installed. Also it's possible that you may have done a Windows Update which installed an updated driver for your graphics card which is causing minor conflicts. Not all Windows Update drivers work well with the 3rd party hardware.

Well I don't know. If you try to view a Youtube video do you get an error? The error will tell you what your problem is. Such as:
Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

What is a flash player, what does it do? Is it also used to download malicious code to one's system?

I agree with CC, OWO. This isn't the first time I've had to pop in one of your threads. Please...

What game/games are you playing when this occurs?
