Your oldest should contribute to the ink fund. By the time they hit college, they are old enough contribute!!
Start --->Control panel -- >Printers and faxes ---->Right click on the printer icon and select printing preferences. Under printing preferences there you will see an option to print with black or print in gray scale.
If they are printing off a lot of papers that have photos the Gray scale option is the one that you will want to have set. Make sure you do this from the printer icon, and not by setting the preferences through the program (ie: IE or MS Office) that you are using to print from. If you use the program, the settings will default back to the original once the program is closed.

CC, thanks for this information. I thought there was a way to bypass printing in color.
