BRITS WOULD GIVE UP SEX FOR A 50"
Dated: 28 January 2008

Comet, the leading electrical specialist, today reveals that size really does matter, with over 25 million Brits admitting they would give up sex for six months to get a 50" plasma TV.

The Comet survey (of 2,000 respondents) findings challenge the popular belief that British men always have "sex on the brain". Surprisingly, nearly half (47%) of the male population would be willing to take a vow of celibacy for six months to get a 50" plasma TV, compared to just over a third (35%) of women. It seems that size really does matter more for men than women.

Sex isn't the only thing that the nation would be willing to sacrifice for a 50". If patches and hypnosis aren't enough to stop Brits smoking, a new plasma TV could be the remedy for quitting, with just under a quarter (24%) of people claiming they would give up cigarettes for a 50" plasma TV.

So great is the nation's desire to get their hands on a 50" plasma that a quarter (25%) of Brits would stop eating chocolate for one. Even more surprising is that just under a fifth (17%) of men surveyed would be willing to sacrifice watching football for a 50" plasma TV.

Comet's Commercial Director,  Bob Darke,, says, "We are surprised to see just how much the nation would be willing to give up for a 50" plasma TV. But we have seen a massive 7,000% uplift in sales of 50" TVs in the last two years. With more and more people aspiring to celebrity lifestyles, having an impressive entertainment system is becoming top-of-the-list for homeowners."

Guess it depends where your mind is when you see the heading of the thread and just read the beginning of it.  I got a chuckle until I read more of it.

Good one Dawg.

How would he be pulling his hair out?

Thought it was an interesting survey. And this was a press release, not a copyrighted news article! :D

That's not it...not the copyright......it's my understanding that he wants only a paragraph or two, and a link to the article. I don't recall him ever saying it had to be that way on only copyrighted material.

Cuts down on the amount of database space used for one thing. Every letter you type, space, indentation, etc etc, uses a byte of space. The less bytes used, the smaller the database, the less search time to find the information to be displayed. Pages load faster, and not as much bandwidth is used.   This may not be one his reasons, but if I had a large amount of people coming to my site every day, and adding content, I would want to reduce the overhead as much as I possibly could.

TheDawg is right on this one, CC. ;)

That is, it's just the copyrighted stuff I'm worried about.

I wonder how that survey would play in the states...

I think American men would give up everything but football.  What the heck good is having a 50" TV if you can't watch football on it???
