You are just being nasty because some of us to care what happens to this city and we are sharing how we feel, I guess you feel it ok to waste tax money.

I have to agree with so much of what you have said. I would love to see someone audit the utility office and then explain to me how my bill (that I got today) went up $30 over last month, when I have not had the central air on at all! And I would like someone to tell me if I (and the rest of Anderson) am paying additional postage for enclosed flyer for the quartet that was included with my bill. If I chose to listen to a religious group, it will NOT be because their flyer is included in my utility bill which is way too high! I realize our city needs lots of prayers, but adding this flyer is not the way to do it in my opinion.

The city has had a lot of waste for years, people spending just so they get a higher budget, things have been bought and I mean big ticket items that are not at the dept. I know this has happened in 1 dept, and I am sure it goes on in others. The money that could be saved would be a large amount if the city would just make dept accountable for what they are spending. Our city officals do not want to hear from the ones that put them in office, they don't need us anymore since they have the position they want. I think it is time to clean house and I mean all departments. I am not talking about the common worker I am talking about all dept heads. If their dept is audited and they can not come up with the items that were purchased or an employee purchased and I mean things like snow blowers and paneling, 5 gals of paint is it looks as tho the dept has not been painted. then they are gone. I also feel that if someone has enough time to retirer then they should.

I see.  Forced retirement.  There's a great idea.  You want to hire the best and the brightest, cut their wages and benefits, and force them to retire early.  Sounds like a plan to save Anderson

Makes perfect sense to me.  I think we need Obama's administration to oversea it (no, that's not a typo) so the program will be designed to be in the best interests of the U.S. economy.

Do you really think that anyone that is supposed to be the best and brightest in their field will ever work for the city? Or are you trying to say that the best and brightest already work for the city? I must be missing something.

I am saying that the goal should be to have the best and the brightest work for the city.  How would you expect to accomplish this if you cut wages and benfits and force early retirement?

BTW, there are a few people working there that are very well respected in their field.  The City Engineer, the head of waste management and the water dept. are some of the very best in the state.

Does that mean that those positions did not get replaced when Kris took over?
