There is an epidemic of Vitamin D deficiency of late. I have heard theories that it comes from all the sunscreen that we put on before we go outside. We can't get the real Vitamin D from the sun because the sunscreen blocks it.
Vitamin D is found in many dietary sources such as fish, eggs, fortified milk, and cod liver oil. The sun also contributes significantly to the daily production of vitamin D, and as little as 10 minutes of exposure is thought to be enough to prevent deficiencies..
Fire Cider Cold Remedy 1/4 cup fresh Horseradish root grated 1/8 cup of fresh Garlic chopped 1/2 cup of fresh Onion chopped 1/4 cup of fresh Ginger grated 1 tsp Cayenne Red Pepper 1 Quart Apple Cider Vinegar You can use your food processor for this Might save a few tears!

If the flu is giving you throat problems and swallow is hard to do. The Hot chicken soup does a good job on mucus.. Load it with the Hot Curry powder, Cayenne pepper, Fresh onions along with onion powder & Fresh minced garlic.. Garlic has immune stimulating antimicrobial properties.. It may give some relief of your upper congestion in the respiratory area from the flu or cold.... This helps your throat, mouth & lungs to expel the Mucus. The hot chicken soup improves the virus fighting white blood cells. All in all this may shorten your cold or flu some.. If you think it does not.. then you had some real good food to help with nutrition during your sick time..

Boil 1 whole Chicken in enough water to cover till done and about to fall off the bone. Remove from broth and let cool enough to remove meat.
Add chopped Celery, Onion, Carrot and minced Garlic to the broth (add more water if necessary). Bring to a boil. Now add 1-2 T. Poultry Seasoning, Salt and Pepper to taste, 1-2 T. Parsley, and 1 T. crushed Red Peppers (more or less - opt.). Continue boiling.
Noodles: Place 3 Egg Yolks and 3 half egg shells of Milk (use a half shell as a measure) in a bowl, add a touch of salt. Lightly mix. Then add 1 cup Flour and stir to combine into a ball. Lightly pat out dough on a floured surface (use flour on the top of the dough to keep from sticking) till the dough is about 1/4" thick. Cut into strips (I use a herb cutter that will cut several strips at once).
Immediately drop the noodles into the boiling broth as you cut them. Lightly stir occasionally.
Add diced (or pulled) chicken to soup. Boil a few more minutes till everything is good and hot. Serves 6-8.
I make this soup with or without the red peppers, sometimes I will add fresh chopped hot peppers. Enjoy

Nana - you don't have to add the hot peppers, the soup is really good without them. I too love about any homemade soup.
Rusty - the reason I go though all that is: Cause it Tastes soooo Good!!!
