I've never been to the Midnight parade in Anderson. I am planning to go this year, and am appalled at the 'mothers' who are contemplating bringing their children. Seven year olds? Out at MIDNIGHT? This is clearly a venue for an adults only crowd. Seven year olds should be in bed by 8pm at the latest. Perhaps 9 pm on the 4th of July.
Anyway, I am going to the midnight parade, and I expect open beer drinking in the streets, and some pretty bawdy behavior. I don't drink myself, but I anticipate that. Anderson has a reputation as being a rough town, and I live in Indianapolis.
I would expect children to be present at rated G Disney movies, parks and parades that are held at noon on Saturday. I would expect strippers, gay pride groups, and a lot of drinking to be going on at Midnight. Keep your children at home and don't complain about adult only venues. Get a babysitter and go out and enjoy yourself!

I have brought my now eight year old son on several occasions. This is a family tradition and we will continue to make the trip back to Anderson.  It is not the "adult venue" you appear to think it is. I grew up in Anderson and it's not a rough area. Rather then forming an opinion about it ask some of us.

Is Baylor opening the office this year?

Either he thinks he's freakin' God or he thinks I am. Either way, I'm about to get a cheap, perverse thrill out of crushing his entire belief system.

Yes, but instead of watching the parade this year, he will be in it.   I don't know who is holding down the office.  Might be me. LOL!!!

Great! Little Man and I will be there. Just let me know what time you are going up there.

I am sorry, but when I was younger the Midnight Parade was not as bad as the recent years, I used to enjoy it. There are kids that in the parade. Are you even a parent Exquisteone, I would really think that you must not be, as for being able to see the fireworks you have to stay up past your 8pm and 9pm bedtimes.

Remember Anderson has an open container law, don't think you will be doing much drinking from your beer cans or bottles or else you might very well be staying over night at our riverside motel!

most kids take an extra nap during the day so that they can be there...heck...even some adults (like me if I decide to go) take a nap.  Give me a break Exquisteone....like J4F said...even to watch the fireworks, kids have to be up to at least 10 and it has always been that way. I am in my 50's and even when I was a kid, I was up past 9 o'clock to watch the fireworks...thats one thing that has not changed over the years...fireworks are still at NIGHT!!!!!!

Maybe someone can come up with some new kind of fireworks so that they do them in the daytime just for you Exquisteone!
