This mortgage- meltdown thing has many people in fear of losing their homes – homes that they worked so hard to obtain. This thread seeks to address this issue and to offer a place to collectively assist each other with tidbits of comments and information that may help -- or this can be a thread to merely vent on the issue. Hopefully, none at AFP have this as an issue, and this thread will therefore sit empty and vacant, but, on the other hand…

It has become a national crisis.  So many lending institutions making loans that people couldn't afford and, unfortunately, consumers being ignorant enough to sign up for those loans.  It's going to get much worse before it gets better I'm afraid.

Sippy's comments are well taken. The crisis is certainly a multi-tiered one. And thanks for even addressing the issue, Sippy. Does anyone have problems with their mortgage? What about this new program that Bush has announced; does anyone know of anyone who will try to take advantage of it?

That new program really burns my butt!  Let me re-phrase....it's not so much the program as it is who supports it and why.  Republicans are quick to cut welfare programs for the truly poor, children and the elderly, but they're all about it for corporations and people who are homeowners.

Yes, Sippy, but the program itself ...is it any good?

I don't know.  I'll have to do some investigating and get back with you on that.  Since it doesn't apply to me or any of my clients, I really haven't looked into it.

Sorry, OWO.  I didn't mean to go all militant on you.
