We are lawyers in the United States of America. As such, we have all taken an oath obligating us to defend the Constitution and the rule of law…. We believe the Bush administration has committed numerous offenses against the Constitution and may have violated federal laws…. Moreover, the administration has blatantly defied congressional subpoenas, obstructing constitutional oversight …. Thus, we call on House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers and Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy to launch hearings into the possibility that crimes have been committed by this administration in violation of the Constitution…. We call for the investigations to go where they must, including into the offices of the President and the Vice President. -- American Lawyers Defending the Constitution

Over one thousand lawyers – including former Governor Mario Cuomo and former Reagan administration official Bruce Fein – have signed onto the above statement demanding wide-ranging investigative hearings into unconstitutional and potentially criminal activity by the Bush administration.

Out of ALL the lawyers in this country...they can only get a thousand or so??? I usually consider that ratio of the population to be the crack pots....

I am not sure where to turn. My friend said she got a lot of help from this site. I guess this may be a good place to start. I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this (the site is a little confusing... i am not an internet junkie) anyhow... here we go.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should do. Here is the problem... I was divorced shortly after my second son was born. The boys are now 18 and 14. For years my ex would not pay support like he should. He would pay just enough that he doesn't get into trouble. The situation as it is now is that he works in an oil drill in OK. He is ordered to pay 426$ every two weeks. That is 213$ a week or 106.50$ per week per boy. I realize this is a lot more than some women get but he does make quite a lot of money. He also lives in Texas and only has the boys two weeks a year (the oldest did not go the last two years). He also does not carry insurance, I do through work. I have never taken him back for more money, also I have never asked the state for insurance or any type of assistance. He does not pay for my sons glasses, school stuff, the boys bills, or a n y t h i n g.
That is the basic history. This is the problem, he has been on probation for a few years. I tell the probation officer every time he stops paying. Just before enough time has passed, he will pay a little so I can not do anything. He was up to 25,000 dollars behind at one point. They put him in jail and he posted the 10,000 dollars within a few hours and went free. I know in there he makes no money but, there should be some sort of punishment to a crime. I have had two lawyers and neither of them have been able to help. Now he has asked the court to lower his support to just 100$ a week with none going to back support. He said the oldest is almost out of school and 18 so he doesn't care. When I contacted his probation officer about this here is what I was told...
"If you would listen to Mr. Obama you would know that the economy is bad right now and feel bad for your ex husband. He struggles too." ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I am the one with the 200$ food bill every week! (both boys are very tall and muscular.) I am aware of the state of the nation and do not need some one who's job is to keep my ex in line to tell me to feel sorry for him.
I don't want any assistance from the state. I had them and I work hard to raise my boys. I just wonder where did the justice go? How can a man on probation live on the other end of the country, not pay his bills (if I am ever late on mine i get in trouble), and just be allowed to walk free like he never had kids to begin with?
Any help or advice would be wonderful!
Thank you!

You really need someone who knows what legal means can be brought to bear on the situation. Perhaps there is a woman's group who can advise you on this.  I am not familiar with them, so I can't advise you.  What about checking with counselors at your sons' schools to see if they can give you any tips on women's assistance groups.

One thing she needs to remember. Just because the boys age out of receiving current child support, the back child support doesn't go away.   Is he having his tax returns intercepted to pay the arrearage?

Monk means possible crimes by Bush and posse.  I wonder what put the burr under former Governor Mario Cuomo's and former Reagan administration official Bruce Fein's saddles?
