WASHINGTON - Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after being stricken at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.

Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” broadcast when he collapsed. He was rushed to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, where resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, said Russert’s physician, Michael Newman, who said the cause of death was not immediately known.

Russert, is one of the many reasons I took an interest in politics, and American history in general. He is one of the greatest, and most influential journalist's of the last 20 years. It is always shocking when someone of his stautre dies. He isn't just another celebrity, he is someone who has probably changed the face of American politics over the last few presidential cycles.

I never missed a Meet The Press show. I learned a lot about politics watching his shows. At times I would get upset with him as I thought he did not come across as unbiased but that was just Tim. He will be greatly missed on sunday morning and during the elections with his  board showing the numbers. May he rest in peace and God be with is family and give them comfort.
