Henry Bird is coming back as publisher... I worked under him at The Star Press. Some of the dates in the story are wrong, I think? In any case... http://www.heraldbulletin.com/local/local_story_247221146.html

Wasn't he the guy with the (I think) English accent? If so, I used to see him at ACC a lot when I worked there.
Scottish. Heh. No other comment.
Yes, he has an English accent. I am told he's very different from Casuscelli, and not in a particularly friendly way. Of course, that is just someone's subjective opinion. You may know him as a friendly, respectful and engaging kind of man, idk.

He's charming. And I have a lot of respect for him as a businessman. I actually had a buffer (one boss) between him and I when he was at TSP. I wonder if he's just stepping in for a bit until a replacement is found? To 'whip the HB' into shape? It's an interesting development.
Just stabbing in the dark, I suspect it would be a prudent move not to replace Mr. Casuscelli directly, but to add THB to a handful of regional papers Mr. Bird will oversee. Saves that much more in employee overhead expense. That's what I would do if I were trying to increase a newspaper's profitability in today's environment.

I imagine he'll have an office here, but the article did say, iirc, that he would continue his current duties as regional VP (can't remember the title off hand...)
I remember before Gannett sold Marion's paper, they shared a publisher with Muncie.
