The reason that I can see the point that both of you have made re: the frame of mind of people who carry firearms has to do with my personal experience. Let me explain.
There was I time when I carried a firearm NEARLY EVERYWHERE. For a number of reasons I eventially stopped carrying altogether. When that happened, I would occaisionally find myself asking whether or not I should go to a certain place or travel a certain route because I was no longer as capable of defending myself should something negative happen. In other words, not carrying a weapon made me feel less safe at that time. MY THOUGHT PROCESS WAS ALTERED.
I now (for a number of reasons) am back to carrying firearms, but I view my activities differently than I did when I was younger. Some things I used to do are no longer on my agenda. While these activities were not wrong or illegal, youth is often reckless. Age should be more reasoned. While I STILL think that I have a right to carry a firearm, I also recognized the potential for that gun to alter my perception at any give point in time. To fail to recognize that potential would be irresponsible.
Why do they call it "Common Sense" when so damn few people have it?
The lock boxes I use have a set of "buttons" on them that are in the alignment of the human hand. You press the "buttons" in a unique pattern and the box opens. You can change the pattern to suit you. Effectively, it makes it almost as easy as pressing a button, and as quick, to get to your firearm stored inside. Each one is constructed of materials that make it as strong as a safe. Keyed access is included as well.
I bought mine a few years back but there is are updated versions still available. Here's a link to one of them:

Thanks for the info, I probably will be checking them out. One of the earlier posters commented on the time lag for getting to your firearms by securing them in this manner. While it is true that some time could be lost, I would think we need to weigh the potential for an unfortunate occurance along with our right to defend ourselves. Far too often, situations occur because we thought our quipment was secure and it wasn't.
BTW, I notice that when I respond to you using the quote button, my post has the same screwy formatting that your post has. What's up with that?
