Not quite. There is a fourth public option that has not been defined. That is what they need the trillion dollars for.
I look forward to a real re-engineering of the health care delivery process. The one thing that will have to happen in order for real improvement to happens is the culture of America has to shift. We can no longer think we will live forever and have every right to stay on this marble one more day, even if it cost a lot of dough.
Tough stuff but it has to be addressed.
Real health care is about prevention, not intervention. Rationing is a bad word, especially in my world of providers, but we have lived with rationing of a sort since private insurance companies started paying doctors directly. But limiting procedures and holding citizens responsible for unhealthy behaviors needs to be just as much a part of reform as the Robin Hood attitude of taking from the rich to pay for this.
Anyway, what we have coming will be nothing like what we need. It will increase the government payroll at the private sectors' expense. But then, that's what it's supposed to do.
I look at this situation as one more brick in the wall. Eventually, people will be forced away from a sickness 'health' model to a 'wellness' health model. It might force medical/physical science to meld more closely with psychosocial sciences for a 360 approach to health and as Hannibal says, we might actually begin to focus on positive health rather than negative health.

In my opinion, those with no current heath (sick) insurance will benefit the most from this plan.
I know there is many questions that have no answers yet but what if there are co-pays. I have a supposedly good vision care plan. I just got new glasses. My insurance paid $155.00 I paid $459.00. I wonder if the new government plan would be better than what we have now.

People are touting socialized healthcare, but they really have NO idea what they are talking about. For example, this seems to be the case with Bob who says it's a good idea, but admits that he's completely in the dark when it comes to exactly what this "good idea" is.
Caution is advised, no?

Braveheart, I worked in vision care for over 10 years...if you paid that much and your insurance paid that much I hope that you have the most awesome glasses ever!
When all is said and done, and we are still paying $50 for a tylenol, they will have just found another way to feed the beast, and will have fixed nothing. But time will tell, doctors gotta eat, but so does every one else.

Thanks Tobi, they're nice. I'm not sure about about the anti-glare though. I haven't tried them with night driving but the sun still has a glare to it. You ad on the transition and progressive anti scratch lenses and it all ads up to big bux. Oh and the flex frames.

Good question, BH.
