Every dollar spent on war should be matched with a health care dollar. But the $50 tylenol, etc, really is a big big part of the problem. Every one having insurance is just a different way to feed the beast. As long as the cost remains ridiculous, nothing will be fixed. Doctors gotta eat, but so does every one else.
the hardest part of doing nothing, is knowing when your done.
The entire medical system is skewed. I've heard that in China you're only paid if your patients remain healthy, not if they get sick. Big pharma is HUGE business with a massive herd of lobbyists. Just like the AMA. If there wasn't a lot of bucks in medicine, would anyone want to do it?
There are two distinct classes of men - those who pay taxes and those who receive and live upon taxes. - Thomas Paine
Even the most fervent supporter of Obama will have to admit that his speech tonight on healthcare reform was embarrassing. His discomfort made it clear that he is all too aware that he is asking for the American people to support a plan that can't be quantified because its not achievable without blatantly calling for a 'Robin Hood' economy. He continues to perpetuate the myth that healthcare is not available to all Americans when he is, in fact, trying to dupe Americans into believing that the ability pay for something is no different than its availablity.
His smooth Harvard-educated lawyer persona is quickly crumbling since he is at the 'fish or cut bait' stage of his presidency and he can't deliver what he promised, something for nothing by forcing those that have earned what they have pay for the wants of those who haven't earned what it takes to pay for them. Karl Marx would be proud of Obama's ideology but dismayed by his inability to perpetuate the ruse that got him elected.
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. - Thomas Jefferson
There seems to be many already upset with the choice they made to allow him the opportunity to become President, & many more are now learning the decision was a false hope for the so called "Change"

NOBull, I'm not sure that I see exactly what you are saying. If I can not afford healthcare or "sick" insurance, where am I going to go when I do get sick?
In the office where I work, if you were to call and say to me "Well, I don't have insurance and I can't pay for the care" I am going to have a very difficult time saying you can come in for care. (granted we are not an emergancy clinic, but I think that the whole point of this discussion is to find a way to keep the poor from getting to the emergancy care step) I believe that if you call an MD with the same situation you will find the same thing. I have found the last several times I have been to an appointment requiring a copay I have been asked to pay that before the appointment, I don't know that I would have been refused care had I not had that copay, but I definately felt that way.
So I do see a direct connectin between the affordability of healthcare and "sick" insurance and the availability of non-emergancy healthcare.
Even if bill is signed this fall, uninsured won't get coverage until 2013

Just to make a point, the $50 Tylenol doesn't benefit the doctor at all, that benefits the big pharma....That is a HUGE piece of the puzzle.
