I understand what you're saying JLS, but not everything no matter how bizarre is okay. Donating your body for cat food or allowing your loved ones to consume it is NOT okay, in my book nor in anyone else's I'd venture to say.
Just so we're clear on MY comments. I would agree that much of what is attributed to Michael Jackson constitutes weird and unacceptable behavior to me also. My comments are only to suggest that I have no real rights to determine what is weird or strange for anyone else in society. Obviously, that presupposes that the behavior is not illegal. Illegal behavior, whether I agree that it should be illegal or not, has already been defined. Since donating my body to be made into cat food is illegal, I would agree that behavior isn't OK for me or for the greater society.
When behavior that I might define as strange (not OK) IS legal, even if I don't like it, society has determined it is OK in the larger sense. The fact that I don't like that behavior and maybe everyone that I know agrees with me, doesn't change the fact that society has made it OK (again in the larger, more global sense) so I am left to define OK for me and let the world do what it does.
A perfect example might be: Many people choose to have a loved one's remains cremated, however somewhere between 25 % and 35% (or more) of the world's population finds cremation unacceptable (strange and/or weird). That percentage of the WORLD'S population is a bunch of folks. Does that make cremation not OK. My answer to that is "only for me and those who might agree, but not for those who choose this legal alternative".
Again, I agree that MJ was strange. I've deplored many of the things attributed to him (behaviorally). My concern is that events like these tend to polarize us because WE ALL have a tendency to claim some moral high ground along with those that agree with our moral stands. This tends to demean those who disagree.
Why do they call it "Common Sense" when so damn few people have it?
Zia that was pretty interesting, kind of odd that they towed in his personal doctors car and that the doctor did not stick around to sign the death certificate.
Here's a quote from Ronald Reagan: "If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
Has anyone said why he was taking that kind of prescribed pain meds? They said on the news that he had (in the past) had a problem with prescription drugs.

Demerol can kill you, even if you take legal doses. It's possible he went into anaphylaxsis and no one could revive him.
