From the Herald Bulletin: "PENDLETON — The death of a 17-year-old Pendleton Heights High School senior is not due to the H1N1 virus, his father said Monday. "An autopsy is being conducted on the body of Tyler Hatheway at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie to determine the cause of his death. "Reports of H1N1 had circulated at the school, but Superintendent Tom Warmke said Monday morning that Hatheway had never tested positive for the virus commonly referred to as swine flu. "Hatheway, who did have asthma, was found dead in his home Sunday morning. "On Saturday, he had worked a fundraiser for his youth group at First Pentecostal Church in Anderson. The group worked at a concession stand at the Notre Dame football game, said his father, Andrew Hatheway. “Everything was fine. He talked to mom, talked to big brother. He went to bed and he didn’t repsond to his alarm in the morning,” the father said Monday morning. "Pendleton Heights High School was open Sunday afternoon to provide grief counseling for students. Warmke said clergy from Hatheway’s church and school staff attended to provide comfort to about 150 students who came to the school. "Warmke said Tyler’s father, Andrew Hatheway is a substitute teacher at South Madison Community Schools and Delynn Hatheway is a teacher at East Elementary in Pendleton. "Andrew Hatheway is also an underwriter for an insurance company and has been on church missions overseas. They also have a son, Joshua, who attends Ball State University." Source: http://www.heraldbulletin.com/local/local_story_313104103.html To the entire Hatheway family: Of all the questions you must be asking, "WHY?" has to be the most searing..."Why him? Why us? What did we do? What did we miss.....?" While you may never get a complete answer, I hope the answers you get, together with your faith, will provide you all with strength to go on. More people than you know are thinking about you and praying for you. May God's presence provide you with comfort and peace beyond human understanding.

I attended chruch services at First Pentecostal last night...sanctuary full of heartbroken people. Tyler definately touched many lives and it is obvious that he was a very special young man.
Additionally, Pastor Luke St. Clair and his lovely wife T.J. (and his father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, etc) are some of the most wonderful people to ever walk this earth.

I recently spoke to a woman who lost her daughter as a high schooler. She was in a car accident and was the only person killed. As they struggled with the why and how's of it all something struck her heart and stayed with her. Some one mentioned to her that her daughter was called home....because she was right with God and ready to go. I know some don't believe in God, but I thought this was very comforting and I hope this young man's family can find the same comfort. It's heartbreaking.
My hero's are the ones who had the heart to live the life they wanted to live....
The Lord only takes the best and when our work is done, he will call us home.
I hope that faith in God can see this family through this tragedy, prayers go out to the family and friends of this young man
"If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
Damn shame. My condolences to his family.
I LOSTED TWO FRIENDS IN SCHOOL AND I REMERBER HOW IT FELT... I PRAY FOR ALL THAT THIS WILL TOUCH...
While at Coopers this evening, this was the talk of just about everyone I came into contact with. I stopped by the Subway in Applewood earlier, and they too were talking about this incident. Every single conversation I engaged in or overheard, had nothing but good things to say about this young man. Every single one of them. Not a single bad syllable did I hear about him. (Which in Anderson is nothing short of a miracle in itself.) Seems he was well known and very much liked by everyone, and a lot of folks are just devastated and shocked!
If how we are remembered is a measure of our success in life, this young man was one of the most successful individuals I have ever heard of.
Losing a child is the toughest thing anyone can go through. No parent should ever have to endure it, yet many of us do every day.
My heart goes out to the parents of this young man, and I am keeping them in my thoughts. It is a long and hard road they have ahead of them, and were it within my means to do so I would spare them this pain and take this young mans place. (It is indeed that painful and I know from personal experience).
They are going to need every ounce of support their friends, family, and community can spare them; and then they'll need some more.
It just breaks my heart. . .
