Did you get profiled to be purged???

As per The New York Times, Indiana is one of the six states purging voters from registration lists in violation of federal law.  By accident, valid voters are being purged.  And by accident, the purging will benefit the Republican party.

I checked the Indiana SVRS voter data base.
Current totals are 3,907,824 active voters.  So far, 325,296 have been flagged as invalid to vote.

ACORN office in Vegas raided in voter-fraud probe

By OSKAR GARCIA, Associated Press Writer Tue Oct 7, 7:51 PM ET

LAS VEGAS - Nevada authorities seized records Tuesday from a group they accused of submitting fraudulent voter-registration forms — including for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys.

"Tony Romo is not registered to vote in the state of Nevada, and anybody trying to pose as Terrell Owens won't be able to cast a ballot on Nov. 4," said Secretary of State Ross Miller, referring to star players on the pro football team.

Today a friend of mine just stopped by for lunch at the Lemon Drop [yummy] - which he usually does about once a month.

Sat alongside of a couple who had just voted [for the right person].  They said that they had to wait for over an hour to vote.  And that there was an even longer line when they left.

Same thing happen to my cousin last Thursday.

I thought Vote early so you will not have to wait as long.  Hmmm.  Interesting.

I think it's more like vote early because there are going to be record numbers voting this year.  Imagine if all those people had to vote in one day.

Thought that have crossed my mind:

If someone gets arrested and is in jail on election day and they vote....will their vote be counted?  I thought if you are in jail on election day then you could not vote.  I could be wrong.

Will
the election board check to see if anyone that has been arrested on election day and has already voted will purge that vote?

Has anyone thought at the county election board of purging people by checking to see who has died by getting records from the department of health and purge these people?

Just a few ideas that have occured.

Being in jail does not disqualify a person from voting.  Currently serving time after being convicted of a felony does, but most of those at Madison County Jail, and certainly anyone who is picked up on election day itself, have not been convicted yet, some may even be not guilty.

Voting Rights Restoration Process
Source: U.S. Department of Justice, December 2000
Updated by the National Conference of State Legislatures, January 2002

Alabama: The right to vote may be regained only through a pardon.

Alaska: Automatically restored upon completion of sentence, probation and/or
parole; felon must register to vote.
California
Colorado
Idaho
Kansas
Louisiana
New Mexico
Rhode Island
South Carolina
West Virginia

Hawaii: Automatically restored upon release from confinement; felon must
register to vote.
Illinois
Indiana
Massachusetts
Michigan
Montana
New Hampshire
North Dakota
Ohio

so YES a felon can vote....once released.  I should know this as it has happened to someone close to me and he is registered to vote.  So I know first hand.
