Rick Muir, City Council President and Federation of Teachers President, Local 519, has exposed himself as another corrupted official.I reached that opinion/conclusion after seeing him in person and reviewing documents.
I am terrorized by the officials like him in Madison County.Their conduct has damaged the economy and lowered the quality of life here. And put the kiss of death on the Anderson’s future. It is not some external enemy to fear, the threat is within that is bringing Anderson down.
The defective election system here makes changing things impossible. At the city sewer rate hearing, did Not see any public trust in the political party process by the public.
So, one more name on the list of bad guys …persons.(one women on list)
My guess would be T.B. How can anyone have any faith or confidence in a group that does exactly what they want to do regardless of how the public votes at election time, or waste their time at meetings to be blown off. Face it, the whole town is corrupt from the top on down, which is slowly? coming to light. God only knows what is going on in this town that gets covered up and not leaked out. If you were looking for a place to settle down and raise kids how could you possibly think Anderson would be a nice choice, if you follow all of the crap flying here.
That is really sad. I understand how things look, however I will state without any reservation that Teddy Bohnenkamp is one of the most dedicated public servants in this state. Trust me, you want her on the school board. I want her on my school board.

So the majority of the voters in the last election were wrong and the ACSC rectified their mistakenly cast ballots by placing her on the board and then making her the president of the board? Is this what is being taught to our children? Ignore the tenets of our electoral process?

Tobi, I don't personally know you or T.B. but your defending someone that was voted out by the taxpayers and clearly did not want her in the position, does not sound good for you. I've noticed that you tend to defend what the public has problems with in the past so nothing has changed with you or your dedication to the crew. Her getting put in position was and is clearly a slap in the face to the voters, who chose not to support her. You're a team player, and the public is not on the team.
What we (and many other towns) are going through is bad enough without the bullshit politics involved in running this city. A family with all the good intentions buys a home in the school distict which they prefer their children attend, only to have a school closed or the bounderies changed. Not many can afford to dump their home in this market to move to the new district to get a decent school for the kids to attend and this is happening all over, not just here. Thank God our kids are already out of school, but I have to feel for the younger parents who have to deal with all of the uncertain/behind closed door agenda your team has going.
Point taken.
As a side note, I wish that the public could see what really happens. The true worth of a politician is not what they say or do in public meetings but how they conduct themselves and what happens behind closed doors. I have seen elected officials praised on this opinion forumfor something that they said in a meeting...however..what isnt known is that they are working night and day behind the scenes in the opposite direction...I might point out former school board member Rob Scott (sorry...I cant call him bishop). He put on a good show and talked real good..however he was easily manulipulated by "others" and ...well we know about the rest. I was attacked on the hb forum for attempting to point out that he wasnt really as he seemed to be.
Tobi Jones asked, Who is the woman on the bad list???
------ City Council (former voter registration clerk) Pam Jones.I dislike her because I asked for some simple routine info at the voter registration, but got intimidated.
Here is a review. Pam Jones was one of the two clerks at the Voter Registration office at the Mad County Gov Center. While the other clerk hid, PJ made smart mouth remarks about how the party owns public records and refused the request. Later discovered the clerks had violated the two clerk, one D and one R, by one hiding to avoid being a witness. The refused request violated state public access laws. At the state SOS level, was first told the registration info is considered confidential and restricted, but then got an email that said, for $ 5,000 I could have the info on all voters in the state. While asking at the local level, about why was I intimidated on a simple request, another said, he paid $ 300 for Madison County info (a few elections back). As for the info now, there is a lock down on info relating to all steps of the election process. The system is bad and they don’t want the public to know. Back to PJ. Did not get the info I wanted, but did on PJ.Not all the people in government are bad, but Pam Jones is one of the bad ones.
I don't know Teddy and I don't know why she was voted off. I do know that elections can be rigged or swayed by large electoral blocks....like union members, for instance, who vote whatever they're told by their union leaders. Why do you think Dixon is still on the City Council? It isn't because he's the best man for the job, that's for sure!
In Pendleton, we've had good people voted off the board thanks to teachers' unions and good people voted off the board because of large blocks of voters swayed by the people who pay them in town (not that they're paid for their vote, but for their job, which is highly political). We lost some really good people to the idiocy of 'the people's choice'. That's the democratic process at its worst.
So no, I don't think 'the voters' always make the best choice (who voted for Obama, for instance?) and if there is a way to correct their errors - like jail Dixon and replace him, or appoint Teddy if she's really that good and the voters screwed up - then by George, do it.

I truly hope you are being sarcastic, Bard. As much as I detest Obama and his blatant attempts at socialization of this great country, I can't believe you're suggesting that the electoral process be turned into a charade to make the unwashed masses feel warm and fuzzy at the polls while some all-knowing 'big brother' installs whomever it determines to be the 'correct' choice for the office. I think the performance of the ACS makes it undeniable that the board is totally incompetent and in dire need of replacement but putting Bohnenkamp back on the board after the public spoke is unconscionable and indicative of the arrogance of the board.
