That's a pretty broad brush you're painting folks with, Wildcat. We may have fewer honest ones up here in Anderson and Madison County than most municipalities and counties but there are still a few. Jack Lutz is as honest and constituent-oriented a politician as you'll meet. I think we finally have an honest (I didn't say perfect) mayor, too. (Yes, I know one's a liberal and one's a conservative. See, I can be non-partisan)
Anyone else want to add to the short list?
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. - Thomas Jefferson
I am a honest person, I do not have any politcal power nor do I want any. I wish that when people run for office and claim that they have the citizens of Anderson best interest in mind. Most of the time I think they just say what the workers and the citizens want to hear and they do what will benefit them and the ones that they have chose to run depts. Kris Ockomon made a statement to one of the workers the night that he won the office of mayor that he did this to help the workers that had put up with a dishonest administration previously. Yet this Man that he shook hands with that night, and was in the paper the next day, was made promise after promise by the mayor and his staff and now he is out of a job. This worker was a hard worker always on time did the right thing but that was not good enough. He spoke out when things were not done right. Did Kris keep his promise No!!!! As far as Jack Lutz I do not know him but I know his son Chris and he is a fine man and Father. I pray that the ones we elect do not forget why they took office and that they will remember that when they make a promise they should keep it or not make it. I have always felt that your word is your bond, and if you live this way you will always have the respect of others. No matter how tuff it gets. I think the only other honest one is Buddy Patterson.
Maybe your question should be why do always elect dishonest people?
"If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
Maybe they are so good at being dishonest that it is hard to tell
I am very cautious of who I vote for, and what is bad is anymore so many times you are voting for the lesser or two evils.

I would love to believe that the ones that profess their religion while out getting votes, really are honest, and do as God would want them to do.

I agree with Jack Lutz seeming to be an honest man, but, do you really believe that KO lived in that little house in town? I sure do not.
