(Not sure what to call this thread) Local Boy/Marine Amateur Documentary
|
As most of you know, since I can't make coffee at home, I go out for my coffee, sometimes to my daughters, sometimes I just grab a large cup from Rickers, but mostly I go to Panera Bread. While I'm there, I try to network with other patrons, for my own self employment, a project I'm working on with someone else, or in hopes of a good job lead. While I'm sitting here having my coffee, looking for online applications to work places, applying through some of these job sites, or just working on my own website (as well as staying caught up on the forums) I completely multitask. This includes not just all the above, but talking to some people to make new friends. There are a couple of guys I've met, a father and son, who come in every day for coffee and sometimes we talk about nothing in particular. The boy is 23 and has been a film buff forever and has a desire to make his own (bad) movies. He has a channel on youtube.com and I checked out some of his stuff. For me it's just a bunch of kid filming, but I think he actually has a message in some of his videos that he's trying to get across. I posted over on the HB site the link to one of his videos. It's called 'S h i t faced in Baghdad' a 10 part documentary revolving around a friend of his who joined the Marines. I wouldn't say that this guy is a GOOD friend of his, but they grew up together and it's obvious that they spend a lot of time together. I think the purpose of the 1 hour 20 min doc is to expose his friend for the type of person he actually is. I haven't made it past the 3rd part because there is too much young guy talk for me. But I'm told if I continue watching, I would get to hear about some pretty wrong things he did while in the Marines. And if I heard correctly, they are things that would make you question just how the service is run and what these guy can get away with. of course this is not to say that this guy in particular is representative of the Marines/Military. But this guy is a local kid, and these are the stories he chooses to tell, some while proudly wearing his uniform. Let me know if any of you can get through all 10 parts. :) http://www.youtube.com/user/neckbracesub <--- You can find the link to all the parts at that url. |

oh looky, now it's on the bottom of my OP. ;) LOL
You didn't put it there?
“If you treat an individual as he is, he will stay as he is; but if you treat him as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Nope. LOL
I think it's part of the advertisings frame. It will probably show up on all new posts right above the advertisment.

Now if you are going to be reading this thread. Go try to sit through all 10 parts of that video doc. I promised this kid I could get hits on it. ;)
Is there a CliffsNotes™ version of your first post so we'll know what the documentary is about?
I have spoken!
No....get off your lazy butt and click the link to watch it.
Well, if you're too lazy to watch the documentaries because they are so long, and I'm too lazy to read your post about the documentaries because it is so long, then we need some other
suckerinterested party to do both and submit a BRIEF synopsis of their findings! (See?!? And people say I can't compromise!!)I have spoken!
Actually, it's not the fact that it's too long, because it isn't. It's the fact that much of the language used in the video offends me. And some of the discussion offends me. But you 'men' most likely can deal with it enough to get out of it the intent behind the making of the video.
I'm offended by long posts. How do we deal with that?
